Kokichi, during the killing game, cried every night without ever making a sound. He'd do it just before going to bed, believing that if he released all his sadness, nightmares would go with his tears. This wasn't the case, as he woke in the morning due to the constant nightmares and tear streaked face. All of this changed when Shuichi one day came into his room without a word, presumably sobbing, and snuggled with Kokichi in his bed. First time they had both woken up smiling. There was a short three day period after Shuichi kept sleeping in his room before they both realized they needed each other.
