Lifeguard Fitness Test

The day of the lifeguard fitness tests had come around and I was shitting myself! I had to get in to keep the job and I was panicking that I wouldn't get in. I needed this job! I'd already had the feeling of being told that I wouldn't get the job when Hoppo played the prank on me and it was horrific!

My tattoo had healed nicely and I was ok to go swimming now, I had kept it hidden from the boys as we had been lucky with rescues and had very little and me and Jesse hadn't posted the instagram picture and video yet, I couldn't wait to see their reaction!

Me and Jesse headed to the pool where they were getting ready to do the swim tests. We walked out to the side of the pool where all the boys were standing and a few of the new applicants were swimming. There were some camera men there getting ready to film for the new season, I noticed they zoomed in on me and Jesse when we arrived, we walked over to maxi and Gonzo at the side of the pool

" sup guys!" I exclaimed before pulling off my t shirt and shorts with my bikini underneath it. There was silence around as I pulled the shirt right off my head

" Whats that?!" Gonzo exclaimed bending down to get a better look

" A tatt, what's it look like?" I joked as the boys all suddenly crowded round me and leant down towards my tattoo " woah guys personal space!" I laughed. I had about 15 lifeguards crowding round me all looking just above my downstairs area...... " this is some girls fantasy" I mumbled

" so your like a full bra boy... girl ... thing?" max ashford asked

" nah, I don't think so, I just wanted the design, it can symbolise way more than just the bra boys, for me its also family and a new start" I smiled.

" right guys gather round!" Hoppo yelled out " unfortunately none of the new applicants made it this year so you all need to pass.... no pressure" he said, great!, " right Jorja, Jesse, maxi, Gonzo and Taco get in your lines and the rest of you wait, good luck!"

I gave Jesse a quick kiss " good luck babe" I whispered in his ear

" you'll do great, love you" he said before we walked over to our lanes, Azza was timing me, I slid into the pool

" ready, set, go Jorja!" he said hitting the stop watch, I had 13 minutes to swim 800 metres and I needed to do it!. I pushed off the side and started swimming quickly but not so fast I was going to tire myself out to soon, I had to do 16 lengths of the 50 metre pool.

I had done 8 and was feeling alright. I was halfway through and wanted to start upping my speed as I needed to finish in time. When I hit the 12th length I began pushing myself harder, I powered through the final few lengths before hammering it on the last one. I reached the other side and looked up at Azza, he smiled

" 11 minutes 34 seconds, great job!"

" yes!" I laughed punching the air in mock victory, I jumped out the pool and noticed Jesse was just coming out the water. I powered over to his lane and grabbed him in a hug " 11 minutes 34, what did you get?"

" 11:46!, great job!" he said kissing me breathlessly. Maxi came bounding over

" 10:56!, yayyay!" he laughed joining in our hug. We pulled back and watched as the next group got started. I grabbed a towel and we sat and watched some of the other boys do their lengths, After a while everyone had finished and had got in so far. Now we had the ocean test.

We all drove down to Bondi and the camera men started setting up as we got into our wetsuits, all the boys were shivering with the cold

" seriously! its 15 degrees!" I exclaimed

" yeah, freezing!" Deano said

" this is summer in the UK!" I laughed as we took our point on the start line. I took a deep breath and ignored the camera's on the side of me. I just focused on getting through the test.

" right, when the first person crosses the line you all have 5 minutes to complete the course, right ready, set and GO!" Hoppo yelled

We all shot off towards the water and I managed to get near the front, it was the swim, then paddle, then finishing off with the run. It ran into the cold water and started quickly swimming out to the first marker, Deano was in front leading the pack and i was behind whippet with some more of the boys to the side of me. I rounded the first marker and followed the boys to the second before heading back to shore. I got lucky on the way in and managed to catch a wave in by body surfing, this took me up to 4th place as I overtook max Ayshford and whippet.

I ran out the water and passed Deano who was running into the water with a rescue board. I grabbed the next board and ran in after him, maxi and Gonzo who were leading. Jesse was right behind me as I threw the board down in the water and began paddling. He drew up next to me as i approached the first marker and rounded it. It felt like De ja vu to the lifeguard challenge as he over took me with a " I'm sorry"

I was in 6th place and felt pretty good as I paddled back towards the beach. I jumped off and noticed that Maxi was in the lead and was about to cross the finish line, I dragged the board up the beach and dumped it in the sand before starting the run. I was in 8th place and began the run, I kept my breathing steady and didn't focus on the pain in my legs as I went round the first witched hat. I sung a little song in my head to distract me as I rounded the final marker and began the final stretch home. I saw the camera's were on me now as I sprinted down the sand, Jesse was stood waiting on the other side of the finish line. I powered down and leapt through the cones and jumped up to Jesse as he caught me in a hug. We didn't care about the cameras as he whispered in my ear

" we did it"
