nothing strikes fear into someone's heart like a midnight phone call
it was just a normal day at first. Just one or two rescues, no first aids, no drama's. Just a quiet, normal day. I was happy, Jesse was happy. Everything was perfect.
We had had a quiet night in, curled up on the sofa with a takeaway, X factor Australia and a blanket wrapping us close together before we went to bed together. it was a perfect night.
it didn't last long though
it was about 1am when I was woken by my phone ringing on the bedside table. I was instantly panicking, who would be ringing me at this time of night, images flashed through my head of one of the boys lying in a hospital bed or lying on the concrete with a bloodied face. I answered it hurriedly
" hello?" I asked
" hello, is that miss Trini?" a man's voice asked
" yes it is, who's calling?" I asked climbing out of bed quietly so Jesse could go back to sleep
" its Scott Atkinson from the British embassy, I understand your currently in Australia on a working holiday visa?" he said. Worry ran through me
" yes, that's correct" I said walking into the living room and sitting on the sofa
" well, your visa runs out in one weeks time, we noticed you had made no attempt to book tickets back to England so we thought we would inform you of this"
my blood ran cold
" what does this mean?" I said, my voice wavering
" you will have to leave Australia in a weeks time or else you will be a illegal immigrant and will be deported" scott said
I would have to leave Australia, I would have to leave Jesse, the boys, the happier life I had found
" miss trini?" scott asked, I had not made a sound
" um, can I ring you back in a bit, I need to speak with my boyfriend" I said my voice wavering
" yes, that's fine, have a good day" he said and hung up
I dropped the phone on to the sofa and dropped my head to my hands. I stood up slowly and walked back to the room, opening the door Jesse rolled over and opened his eyes
" everything ok?" he said sitting up, I shook my head
" I have to leave Australia" I said before breaking down into tears " I have to leave"
