As luck would have it (bondi rescue fanfic)

dolphins in the bay

the summer season had ended at bondi but the cameras were still hanging around in case of a drama and to get our interviews, its lucky they did as they managed to catch a beautiful moment on bondi.

it was about 8:30 in the morning and the beach was virtually empty, me and Jesse were down early, our shift actually began at 9, and there was only the lifeguards and a few camera men down so far. I was in the tower when I noticed something in the water

" is that a shark?" I said to yatesy pointing out, the sun was rising and it was shining on the water  so it made it harder to see things. I grabbed the binoculars and had a proper look

" that's not a shark, that's a load of dolphins!" yatesy said, I took a closer look and realised that he was right!, there must have been about 20 dolphins out there.

" a couple of you need to head out there, this always makes a good ending for a show" one of the camera men said

" simba, jesse, do you wanna head out, you technically don't start for another 30 minutes" yatesy said. I looked over to Jesse

" hell yeah!" I exclaimed before quickly stripping out my lifeguard top and throwing it over the railings, Jesse did the same and we headed under the tower and grabbed two spare rescue boards. we walked down to the waters edge and paddled out together, a camera man came out with us and he handed me a little camera to film from our views.

we got out to the dolphins and just sat astride the boards watching, there must have been at least 20 and there were little baby ones out there, it was the most amazing experience ever!

me and jesse positioned our boards next to each others and sat watching the dolphins, I felt something brush against my leg and I looked down to see one right next to me, it was inbetween mine and Jesse's boards. " jesse look" I whispered, he looked down 

" this is unreal!" he whispered, I reached out a hand and touched the dolphins back, it didn't swim off in fear. Jesse also reached down to stroke it and the dolphin still didn't swim away, we both sat there stroking this dolphin as it seemed to bask in our attention, mine and Jesse hands met briefly on the dolphins back as we stroked it. The camera man signalled for me to point our little camera on it, I quickly turned it on and pointed it down between our boards, Jesse was still stroking the dolphin as I started filming, I pointed the camera at him and he looked up and put his face into a shocked face, I giggled and turned the camera so it had me and him in it, we both put our thumbs up and smiled before I pointed it back to some of the other dolphins.

we followed the dolphins around for a bit and watched as the little babies tried to keep up with the pod, it was a magical experience. the dolphins eventually swam off and we both paddled into shore. we managed to catch the same wave back in and we jumped off at the shore where reidy and a camera man were waiting for us

" how was that?" reidy asked

" mate that was unreal, there were little babies out there and everything and one of them just stayed by us whilst we stroked it!" I exclaimed

" mate that was sick" jesse said

" what were they doing?" reidy asked

" just swimming and dolphining around really, it was amazing though, had a ball yeah!" Jesse replied. we picked up the board and began to walk back up to the tower

" that was unreal!" I said walking next to Jesse

" you literally cant beat mornings like that!" Jesse said

we put the boards back and headed back upstairs. I threw my shirt back on and sat back down on the chairs. there literally couldn't have been a better start to a beautiful day.
