I cried all winter break. I cried at night, in the morning, and at the grocery store when my mom asked me to go pick up milk. I felt as if I was drowning. All alone. I slept till noon on Wednesday just to wake up to red swollen eyes. I washed my face in the bathroom. I checked my phone. I had two missed calls from Reginae, three texts from Madison, and nothing from Jacob. I sat on my bed. I look in my mirror. He said I was beautiful. Wasn't beautiful enough? Why did he feel as if he needed her? She was nothing. But a hoe. My phone rang. Santo was calling. I picked up. "Hello?" I said in a groggy voice. "Hey..." He said. His voice was smooth. Like chocolate. "Are you okay? I found out what happened. Reginae told me." I wipe away a tear. "Yea. I'm fine." He was quiet for a moment. "You wanna come over?" He asked. I thought about it. "Yea. Come pick me up." I said standing up. "Alright. I'll be there in thirty minutes." "Okay." I hang up and get dressed. I waited out on the porch. His mustang pulled up five minutes later. I stand up. I open the door and get in. "Hey." I give him a quick smile.
