The soft morning light streamed through the curtains, and as I stirred, the realization dawned on me, I was in Shruthi's arms. A gentle warmth surrounded me, and I could feel her steady breath against my neck. Her arm was draped around me resting on my chest and her face was resting in the crook of my neck. For a moment, everything else faded away, and all that remained was this comforting embrace.

As I opened my eyes, a subtle smile graced my lips. It had been a few days since Shruthi's unsettling experience, and gradually, we seemed to be finding our way back to each other. There was an unspoken understanding between us, a shared journey through the recent turmoil that drew us closer.

I carefully shifted to face her, marveling at the serenity on her face as she slept. In these quiet moments, I couldn't help but appreciate the strength she possessed, a strength that not a lot of people had. Not even me.

I traced the outline of her features with my eyes, silently thanking whatever forces had led us to this point. The rift that had kept us apart seemed to be closing, and there was a newfound closeness that spoke of healing and understanding.

Gently disentangling myself, I watched Shruthi sleep, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness. It wasn't just about physical proximity, it was about the emotional connection that we were rebuilding now and it gave me hope that maybe things could actually work out like I wanted. It might not be soon but maybe some day she might be able to see how much I love her. That's all I ever wanted. The past was behind us, and the future held so much hopes.

Unable to resist the magnetic pull, I leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to Shruthi's forehead. The warmth of the moment enveloped us, and for a fleeting second, time seemed to stand still.

To my delight, she stirred, her eyes fluttering open. A soft smile graced her lips as she realized our proximity, and with a contented sigh, she snuggled even closer.

"Morning beautiful", I said running my fingers through her hair, without thinking much.

She smiled a little, "Morning don't you have work? "

Her actions, a silent agreement that the rules we had playfully set seemed to be gone out of the window now.

I chuckled, the sound resonating in the quiet room. " I do but on another note seems like your rules have been conveniently forgotten," I teased, my voice a whisper against the tranquil morning air.

Shruthi's eyes met mine, and a playful glint danced in them. "Well, some rules are meant to be broken, especially when the circumstances are... cozy," she replied, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
