A/N : Takes place in the post Tenchi Forever! (the final installation of the Tenchi Universe continuity)

Everything was finally peaceful.

No more running from the space police. No more fighting giant, time breaking kaijus. No more searching for Tenchi. Jo more needing to leave home outside of normal errands. An outsider may even argue that their life had become painfully boring, but they didn't see it that way. After all the chaos of the last few years, it was nice to finally have a mundane life free of intergalactic threats.

Kiyone and Mihoshi found a nice little apartment on Earth that they stayed at when they weren't off doing Galaxy Police things. Washu still lived under the stairs of the Masaki household, working on her different inventions and gadgets. Ryoko, Ayeka, and Sasami also lived there as they had previously even though Tenchi didn't live there full time anymore. He had college now and spent most of his school terms living near campus with his new boyfriend.

The girls all understood this and no longer went out of their way to bother him, instead just enjoying his presence when he was around. During those six months of searching for him, Ryoko and Ayeka learned to accept that their obsessions with the boy had never been particularly healthy for themselves or him, and they were just glad to see him finally be in a healthy relationship with someone.

They also realized that a large part of their obsession with him was to shy away from the feelings they had for one another. After all, it was a lot easier to bicker at each other than to have an open and honest conversation about their feelings, which led to an almost hostile dynamic between the two. It was only when that safeguard disappeared and they were alone together searching for him that they started to be a bit more honest about that- Both with themselves and each other.

Now they could just be together without all the halfhearted arguments, which was almost insane for those around them but made perfect sense in their own minds.

"The house is really quiet today" Ayeka said softly, curled up in bed with the space pirate, who gave a small noise of agreement in response. Everyone else was off doing things outside of the house, leaving the two alone as the only people occupying it. "It's nice" the princess continued. "I mean, I love Sasami and the others but it's nice to finally get a quiet moment like this"

"You know, the moment is way less quiet with your whining" Ryoko said with a shit eating grin, earning a small elbow to the side. "Kidding!" she corrected herself with a laugh that Ayeka soon shared with her. After their laughter eventually died down, they fell into a comfortable silence.

Ayeka began to gently run her fingers through the space pirate's hair, working out the many knots and tangles she came across as she did so. "Having fun there, princess?" Ryoko asked, her eyes closed and a content smile on her face. "Your hair is an absolute rat's nest" Ayeka replied, her face slightly annoyed but Ryoko took no offense to it. "Always such a neat freak" she replied with a chuckle. "Glad to see that some things never change"

"Oh, be quiet, you nuthead"

"You know you can just call me a bitch, right?"

"I prefer not to use such improper language"
