chapter 80
———

Third Person POV
"So...what you guys are telling me...is all true?" Emma mumbled, her knees up to her chest.

"...We didn't believe it either, at first" Jane said. "But when Miss Lillian freaked out like she did last night, we all knew it was serious."

"My whole life....was just a lie? I was kidnapped, from my parents?! And it was by my AUNT?!"

"Emma, I'm so sorry" Xena mumbled, biting her lip.

"I COULD'VE HAD A LIFE!! A LIFE WITH A FAMILY THAT WOULD'VE COMFORTED AND SUPPORTED ME AND SHE—"

Emma's voice cracked.

"She took that away from me."

Jane got up, hugging Emma as she shook.

"It's just one after the other" Isaac mumbled. "Shit upon shit upon shit."

"...Jane?"

"Yes, Emma?" Jane asked.

"...I don't want to stay there. I wanna be with my parents' friends, know what my parents were like, I....I don't wanna stay with someone like that."

Emma sniffled, hugging Jane back.

"Please, please, I don't wanna be like her! I wanna be good! I wanna be as good as my parents! I don't wanna—"

"Emma, you're nothing like Erai!" Sofia said."You're as good as anyone else in the world! You're smart, fun, reasonable, you're nothing like that woman!"

Jane looked Emma in the eyes.

Emma leaned back into the hug, trying to calm herself down.

The teens turned towards the door, where Lillian, Tony, and another person stepped through.

"Emma!" Tony called out, dropping his brown jacket on the floor. "Emma, I am so—"

"Don't touch me!"

Tony immediately stopped, letting his hand fall back to his side as his eyes directed away from her.

"How dare you? You let that woman lie to me throughout all my seventeen years of life and all you did was play 'father' under her roof?!"

"...I NEVER WANTED TO, OKAY?!" Tony said. "If I hadn't....Erai would've done much worse."

The unidentified person walked up to Tony, sitting him down in the one chair.

They were the same height as Emma and had a short, black choppy pixy haircut with the front ends elongated down the sides of their naturally pale skin tone until it reached the bottom of their ears. Along with their brown, doe eyes and black fedora on their head, they wore a white, short sleeve collared shirt, black jeans, and black sneakers and topped it with the black, septum piercing that stuck out of their nostrils.

"Why didn't you tell anyone?" The person asked in a low voice. "Why did you wait until she was seventeen to speak about this?"

"....Erai was going to kill Emma if I hadn't done anything" Tony answered. "She's had a history with mental issues, and I knew that Erica and Carter had a child, so when I saw her hold up a knife to your body, I...I had to stop her. Stop her from doing something that would've killed ALL of us even further."

Emma looked up at Tony.

"I know how shitty I am for what I did, but I couldn't let Erai take a child's life, more or less, my closest friends' child."
