{Two Months Later}
You're sitting in Mr. Everett's history class. The school day was almost over, so he just begins talking about current events after his lecture.
Aasim and Clementine sit in desks to your right and left, respectively.
Student #1: Mr. Everett? You saw the Knicks game last night?
Mr. Everett: I didn't get to it sadly. I was up all night studying.
Mr. Everett has told you many times that he's working on getting his doctorate in science to pair along with his doctorate in history. Once he does, he'll officially go by Dr. Everett.
Student #2: Screw the Knicks game. Did you see that pursuit on channel 7? I got to see Spider-Man catch those carjackers live!
You slightly smile. Thankfully those criminals gave up easily once you landed on the hood of their car. You swear you saw the moment the driver pissed himself.
Student #3: I'm not going to lie, that shit was dope.
Mr. Everett: Um, langauge?
Student #3: Sorry.
Mr. Everett chuckled, and then spoke to the class.
Mr. Everett: We're currently living in a very interesting time in our history. We've never seen anything like Spider-Man. For the last couple months, he's been a sign of hope for the city of New York. We should be thankful for his heroics.
The bell rang soon after, and the class began to leave.
You, Aasim, and Clementine leave the class and start heading outside.
Aasim: I saw the pursuit too. That shit was crazy.
Clementine: I swear my dad was glued to the TV since it started.
Aasim: Did you see it, Y/N?
You: Uh...yeah of course. Thankfully Spider-Man stopped those drugs from getting into the wrong hands.
Clementine: Drugs? I didn't hear the news say anything about drugs being in the car.
You gulp. Of course people didn't know. But you did, you stopped the damn perps yourself.
You: I'm just assuming. Those guys sure looked like they were in a hurry.
Clementine simply nods, and the three of you meet up with Louis.
Louis: How's it going, mis amigos?
You: Looks like somebody's paying attention in Spanish class.
Louis: I'll have you know that I'm currently at a C average.
You chuckle.
Aasim: Well, it's officially the weekend. Any of you want to grab a bite?
Louis: I'm up for it.
Clementine: Sure.
You: It better not be Subway again.
Aasim always had a knack for driving his friends to Subway to eat. He loved the Friday deals.
Aasim: Fine. I'll let you guys pick on the way.
The four of you begin walking to the school parking lot.
Clementine is right beside you walking at your same speed. You take a quick glance at her wrist, and notice the beaded bracelet. You gave her that during the homecoming dance...which you did ended up taking her to.
There was no limo unfortunately, but she enjoyed homecoming nonetheless. The both of you didn't know what to think of the dance, whether the two of you went as good friends...or as something more.
Clementine: Caught you looking.
You notice that you were looking at the bracelet while in your thoughts.
You: Huh? Oh, sorry.
She chuckled.
Clementine: What? You want this back?
You: No no no...I'm just surprised you're still wearing it.
She looked at it.
Clementine: Well, I like it.
She looks at you and smiles, and you do the same.
You're nearing Aasim's car, but then your spider sense goes off and you see cop cars and ambulances drive by the school. There's something going on nearby.
You have to make an excuse.
You: On second thought guys, I just remembered that I had to do something with my aunt after school. I gotta go.
The three of them turn to you.
Louis: For real? Is everything okay?
You: Yeah, it's just something I gotta do.
Aasim: You don't need a ride home or anything?
You: No, it's fine.
You look at Clementine. It pains you to just leave abruptly like this.
You: I'll talk to you guys later.
You begin running out of the parking lot, with your friends watching as you dash out of view.
~~~
You swing and land onto a building near 98th Street.
You look, and see that a small apartment building is on fire. You know there are a couple poor souls who weren't able to be evacuated. You had to help.
You put on your mask.
This was a job for Spider-Man.
TWHIP!
You swing off the building and make your way to the burning building.
Bystander: It's Spider-Man!
You leap through a broken window, and you immediately feel the heat of the flames. The smoke starts to make you cough.
You start walking through the hallway, and you can hear somebody coughing in one of the residences. You kick open the door, and see an old man on the ground holding a life alert button.
You: I got you, sir.
You begin to pick him up and put him over you shoulder, but your spider sense tingles and you notice the ceiling above you beginning to collapse.
You quickly leap out of the way and out the room.
You swing out the same window you came through, and bring the old man to the paramedics.
Old man:...thank...you.
You simply nod, then you notice an Asian man run up to the scene with firefighters stopping him.
???: My wife and baby are up there! Let me go!
Officer: It's not safe, sir! Stand back!
The Asian man notices you, and grabs you.
???: You have to help them! Please!
You: I'll get them out. Don't worry.
TWHIP!
You swing back inside through the window, and go down the same hallway again. You make it to the last door, and hear the cries of a woman.
You kick the door down, and the smoke blinds you.
You: Where are you?!
You don't hear a response. You go deeper inside the residence, and see another door to a room. You hear the cries again.
You: I'll get you out of here!
You break open the door, and see a woman holding her baby. Both are crying.
You: Everything's going to be okay. I'm getting you out of here.
As you help them up, the floor begins to cave in, and you act fast.
You: Hold on!
You grab them both and rush out of the room. More smoke fills the room, but you keep running and leap out the window with the mother and baby.
You rappel down to ground level using a web and let the two of them go.
???: Maggie!
Maggie: Glenn!
The both of them hug, and the father gives his baby a kiss. He then looks at you.
Glenn: Thank you so much for saying my wife and son. I don't know how I can ever repay you...
You smile under your mask. You remember how much of a father figure your uncle was to you.
You: You don't need to. I'm just being your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
THWIP!
You swing away...as the bystanders below begin cheering at the sight of their hero.
