When you live in a forest surrounded by wildlife and plants , you may think that a witch who specialises in herbs would be delighted that they live in such a fruitful place where most of their needs could be found with ease. However , that isn't the case at all . Ever since humans found this once beautiful forest that used to be filled with spectacular flowers and different plants that could be used in herbs , they've been taking and taking everything they could land their grubby hands on .
This led me to start my own private garden for herbs and flowers and casting barrier spells around the forest to prevent any humans from entering . I had originally planned to place a chimera at the entrance of the forest but decided against it when the forest fairies warned me of a hunt that was happening within a few days which led to the decision of the barrier . I sighed , sipping my tea as I watched the trees sway with the wind . It was times like these where I could calm down and forget about all the destruction the humans have caused . Though it gets lonely living alone here with nothing but the creatures inhabiting the forest to keep me company , I still like living in my comfy cottage with almost no disturbance .
Though sometimes I do wish the creatures of the forest would knock before intruding into my cottage .
"It isn't nice to just intrude into my cottage without my knowledge you know . "
I mumbled as I gave a glance to the Elven King who just had this sheepish smile on his face . I placed my tea cup down , "Well ? Take a seat , I have a feeling you have something important to talk to me about ? " I watched as he nodded his head , taking a seat directly infront of me as he laid out his problems and that there was a possibility that a war between the elves and humans could happen . In which , I come in .
"So , you want me to brew potions to help in the war ? "
I was hoping he would say no but it seems that he was being serious . I shook my head before laying out what a witch that specialises in herbs can and can't do .
"Your highness you must understand that I'm not capable of brewing potions that are meant for war . I specialise in herbs , which means I can only brew potions that help people , not end their lives . "
"Yes I understand fully well that the potions and magic that you specialise in are meant for the good but isn't there at least a potion or magic that can be use against people ? "
"Well , " I started , standing up from my seat and walked the short distance to my workplace "There is a potion that I could make that could be used against people and creatures alike but , "
I paused as I searched through my potion cabinet for the one ingredient that was required for such a potion . I bit my bottom lip seeing as I had either ran out of it or I simply didn't have it in the first place .
"The potion requires a ... certain ingredient that is hardly found around here . "
The Elven King narrowed his eyes at me , asking me what that ingredient could be and that it shouldn't be that hard to find it . I shook my head " I'm sorry but unless you know where I can get demon blood , I can't help you . "
He froze in his place , muttering something under his breathe that went along the lines of 'I think I know a place' . I raised an eyebrow , "You know of a place ? "
"Yes , yes I do but ... "
"But what ? "
"The demon is still but a child , I'm afraid . "

"A child ? This doesn't look like a child . "
I whispered , kneeling in front of a basket that held a raven black haired baby with the darkest shade of bloody red eyes . If it wasn't for the fact that the baby was a demon , I might've wanted to take in the little guy as my own . Nonetheless , I took out a sharp needle and pricked the baby's finger .
I held onto my breath , a small bottle in hand as I watched black blood oozing out from his finger . It may have taken me almost half an hour before the bottle was filled but seeing as I've completed the task that I've came for , I was prepared to head back to my cottage when a sharp cry startled me , my heart almost leaping out of my chest . I turned back around , facing the basket to see a baby crying and kicking his legs against the nothing less . I sighed , part of me just wants to leave the baby here but the other part of me just can't bear the thought of leaving a defendless baby out in the open with no way to protect himself .
"Your lucky your such an adorable little thing . "
I cooed , picking the basket up and lightly pinching the baby's chubby cheeks , walking the long distance back to the cottage with a new companion to keep me company and busy .
Hopefully I'll raise the little guy right .

"Damien , where did you place the bottle of Valerin ? Damien ? "
I called out his name once more , eventually I groaned and headed upstairs to see whether he was still in his room . Really , if I had known that the baby I found in the forest was going to give me a heart attack any one of these days , I would've just left him there . Well granted I already knew he was a demon baby before hand but still .
I knocked on his door .
"Damien ? "
There was no response , so , I knocked again . There was still no response , which was starting to tick me off rather then making me worry . I gave him a few minutes before deciding to barge in into his room to wake him up . I had expected Damien to be lying in his bed , snoring his life away but was instead greeted with an empty bed and the window wide open .
That little piece of -
I rushed back downstairs , grabbing my bag before heading outside in search of the demon . You might think that living and raising the demon child for 20 years of your life must've been new , sort of fun and fascinating . However ,that couldn't be far from the truth ladies and gentlemen , in fact , let me drop some knowledge .
Raising a demon child is was exactly like raising a human child , excluding a long black tail with a heart at the end , the darkest shade of red wings , bright red eyes when pissed , sharp claws to leave you with scars , being able to summon creatures that I've certainly haven't seen in my lifetime , actually able to seduce you by the age of 10 like a succubus could and sticking to you like super glue 24/7 . Did I also mention that he was already the height of a teenage human male by the age of 6 ?
I groaned at the thought , I could still remember how he had just casually walked up to me while I was sipping some black tea and started seducing the hell out of me for what seemed to be 2 hours . He had eventually given up when he saw that there really wasn't much of an effect against me but deep down inside , I felt myself die a bit for every single pick up line he used as I felt a headache coming .
"Damien ! "
I called out his name once more , my arms falling to my side as I looked around the forest frantically . He may be a demon , a full blooded one at that , but there were still certain creatures that could end him no matter how hard he tried to face them off .
"Oh who am I'm kidding . His already an adult . "
I muttered , he may have already stopped growing and aging but that didn't meant that I should keep treating him like a little baby . Besides , it's about time he went back to his birth family and the last thing I heard about the situation in hell was that Satan is still looking for his long lost son to take over his place as the new ruler . In addition , if Damien keeps on staying with me , I don't think he'll be ready when I decide to kick him out to let him live on his own . That little prick is the most laziest demon I've ever encountered , the only thing that he ever helps me with is when I need his blood for some potions .
'Though that last part makes me think I'm just using him for my own benefits .'
I pushed that thought away , walking deeper into the forest , passing by creatures such as forest fairies , leaf spirits , Nymphs , trolls , goblins and elves , many elves . Strange it was to see trolls and goblins wondering about in the forest this early , they would usually come out in the late afternoons . I stopped my tracks when I heard giggles coming from the Nymphs in the lake not too far , things just seem to be getting stranger and stranger aren't they ? The Nymphs should be taking their naps at this timing and I'm sure they weren't having any human guest around since humans were the only creatures that I knew who were foolish enough to go and have a little chat with the Nymphs .
Though I guess Damien was even more foolish than those humans I suppose if he actually didn't heed my warning of the Nymphs since he seemed to be gleefully laughing his life away with them .
Now there wasn't really anything danger when it came to the Nymphs , really they were just the sweetest maidens I've ever chatted with in my youth , but it just didn't escape the fact that one of the Nymphs had stolen another witch's beloved with her good looks and had charmed him to leave said witch for her . Oh poor Bebe , I could still remember her stricken face when her human beloved came up to her and told her of the terrible news he brought along with him . She couldn't stop weeping for 8 days 8 nights . Ever since then , she had a disdian for Nymphs , didn't matter if they were nice and caring , if they were Nymphs , they might as well just drop dead right in front of her . I could just roll my eyes at that memory , Bebe was more on the emotional side which really didn't help her with being a witch since she couldn't just keep casting spells on people , creatures and things that she finds to be quite ...
Revolting
And since Bebe and I were the only permanent witches staying in the forest , we had to stick together tightly if we wanted to survive in this world .
Which was why I couldn't afford Damien to go and mess up my reputation since almost every creature in this forest knows I'm his guardian that raised him since he was a baby . So , you couldn't blame me when I casted a blinding spell on the Nymphs to make them return deep into the lake - don't worry , the spell only last for a few minutes . Damien cursed as I walked up towards him , pulling his ear and dragging him along the sharp and rocky ground back to the cottage . Funnily enough , he didn't seem to have the capability to remove my hand no matter how hard he tried to pry them away from his ear . Was he using his full strength ? Maybe , well it didn't really matter to be anyways though I do wish he would start stepping up and take the initiative to take over his father's place as king of the underworld .
Though I shouldn't had underestimated the ways Damein had up his sleeves to fluster me .
"You know , I never pegged you for the lacy type . "
I gasped , immediately pulling the back end of my dress down with both my hands , releasing my grip on Damien who had seemed to make full use of this new opportunity that he made for himself . That little rascal really didn't had any manners at all in him ! He didn't get very far before I kicked him hard with my boots , screeching at him as I ran after him with anger flowing in my veins .
Really , I should start thinking about seeing him back to his biological father soon .

By the time the both of us got back to the cottage , it was already sunset which bugged me since it didn't felt as though a few hours had past by . Then again , I wasn't really paying attention to my surroundings when I was chasing after Damien through the forest . Pouring myself a cup of black tea , I settled down onto my rocking chair . Bebe told me once that I should get a new chair , probably because she couldn't stand the sight of something so old and ugly in her presence , but I shrugged it off . I didn't see any need to have a new chair when I already had such a comfy chair.
Besides , Damien agrees with me on this . I don't quite remember when he started liking rocking chairs but he couldn't part with , or rather he couldn't stop , rocking himself to sleep on my chair . Sipping my tea before placing the tea cup down onto the tree stool , looking at my surroundings and the sun setting down .
"You know , you got to stop acting like a grandma . "
Damien muttered , yawning afterwards . I raised an eyebrow at his statement , "What do you mean ? I'm pretty sure starring at the sunset doesn't make me act like a grandma . "
"Oh please " he rolled his eyes as he made himself comfortable , sitting down on the grass beside me before stealing a sip from my tea cup " Your not even that old , your a witch and as far as I know your immortal . "
"So stop acting like as if your going to die at any moment . You've got time on your hands to spare anyways . "
"Well with you with me , I barely have any time to myself . "
"Oh please, I know that you enjoy my presence more than anybody else . "
I sighed " Oh you know it ."

So I may have taken a whole month off to not publish any chapters
But
That doesn't mean I haven't been writng other chapters that are either almost done or just began .
