Back at the apartment, Peter wanted a chance to try and talk to his daughter again. The two of them sat down on the couch
"You know, we never got the chance to talk about your mother." Peter said to Bella
"Why should I care?" Bella said "She abandoned me as a baby. Probably did the same for Malia. If Malia wants to find her, fine by me. I don't want anything to do with her."
"Even if it reveals the truth?" Peter asked
"I've been doing just fine without her in my life. Even if I don't know who she is."
"True." Peter nods "I don't even know who she is either, no thanks to Talia. Part of me wants to know the truth. And find out why things happened the way it did."
"And the other part?"
"Part of me doesn't even care." Peter revealed "It's too bad she ran off and I was left to take care of you."
"You make me sound like a burden." Bella looked down
"No." Peter grasped her hands, causing her to look up at him. "You were never a burden. Yes, I was a single father. Was it hard at times? Yes. It wasn't easy at first but I think I did an okay job."
"Apart from the years you were in a coma."
"True." Peter sighed "But I had you. That's more than enough for me."
"I thought you wanted to track her down?" Bella looked up at Peter
"Your mother? I thought I did."
"Then what changed your mind?" Bella asked
Peter shrugged. "I don't know. I guess I was just afraid."
"Afraid of what?"
"Of learning what the truth is."
Bella sighed "Same."
Peter put his arms around Bella, pulling her in for a hug. "No matter what happens. No matter what the truth is, even if it hurts, it's going to be alright."
"I know." Bella said
It was getting late. Bella was tired. Peter noticed. "Why don't you go to bed. We can talk more later."
Bella nodded as she wrapped her arms around Peter once more, bidding him good night. Peter pressed a kiss on the top of her forehead.
"Get some rest." Peter tells her
"I will." Bella said, heading to her room.
Bella crawled into bed and was fast asleep within minutes. She was only asleep for a few hours when she started to have a nightmare. The same nightmare she's had before. Whether it was a dream or a vision, she did not know.
In the dream, Bella was in a room. She went to the door and found that she was locked inside. Bella began pounding on the door as she screamed "Let me out!" as other screams were heard in the distance. She began to scream hysterically as the dream began to fade.
Bella's eyes fluttered open as she felt like she had been crying from the dream. She sat up on her bed. She sat there with her head in her hands as more tears fell, hitting the floor or her leg while the dream was repeated in her head like poison.
Bella then got up and walked into the bathroom and grabbed a tissue, whipping her red, puffy eyes and splashed some water on her face. She took a deep, shaky breath in and out. She did this a few times before her breathing was normal again.
Bella went back to her bedroom and sat on the edge of her bed, with her hands in her head.
"What are you doing up?"
Bella heard Peter's voice say, making her shoot up and lock eyes with him. She didn't hear him open her bedroom door. Peter saw the tears in her eyes and he quickly walked over, sitting besides Bella.
"What's wrong? Are you alright?" He asked with worry
"Yeah, it was just a dream. That's all." Bella said, wiping her eyes but more tears fell.
"What was it about?" Peter asked, giving Bella a side hug.
Bella told him every detail she remembered from her dream. She eventually broke down.
"Hey, it's okay. It was just a dream. It wasn't real." Peter said in a soft voice.
"I know. But what if it was another vision?" Bella asked as her voice cracked.
Peter had a worried look in his eyes. Before he could say another word, his phone was going off. Peter sighed in frustration and left the room to answer the phone. Who was calling in the middle of the night?
Peter came back with an unamused look on his face.
"What's going on?" Bella asked
Peter shrugged. "Derek needs me at the loft. I'm headed over there now."
"I'm going with you." Bella jumped from the bed
"Fine."
It took them a few moments before leaving for Derek's. When they arrived, they were both surprised by the unexpected sight. The room was an absolute disaster and things had been tossed all over the place. Derek and Braeden were going through the various items thrown about but they stood when Peter and Bella walked in
"What the hell happened here?" Peter asked, looking amused.
Derek shook his head. "Scott and Kira were here. Kate took them."
"They were both here?" Peter asked
Derek nods
"And they're both gone." Braeden added
"Where did she take them?" Bella jumped in
"Mexico." said Derek
"Then it looks like we're going to Mexico."
"I'm sorry, who's 'we'?" Peter asked
"I'm going too." Bella shrugged
Peter shook his head "Absolutely not!"
"You can't stop me from going."
"Yes I can. I'm your father. It's my job to protect you. Trust me."
"How can I trust you if you can't even trust me?" Bella made a comeback
"She's got you there, Peter." Derek said
"Shut up." Peter glared at Derek "It's out of the question!"
"You can't keep her out of the game forever." said Derek "She's a werewolf now. Bella's got to learn how to embrace the lifestyle."
"She's just a kid." Peter said
"So was I when I started out. Look where I am at now."
"Yeah, completely powerless." Peter snapped back
"That's not what I meant and you know it." Derek said, crossing his arms.
"She's not ready!"
"Thanks for having so much faith in me, dad." Bella said before running upstairs to her old room.
"Great." Peter sighed in frustration before going after her.
Peter went up and found Bella sitting on the bed, on the verge of tears. "Oh come on, kiddo. You know I'm just trying to look out for you."
"No. You're just trying to stop me from getting near Kate." Bella snapped back
"What do you want me to say?"
"Oh I don't know. How about 'Sure! Let's all go to Mexico. You can fight. Give it your best shot!'?" Bella said sarcastically "I've got my own demons to fight."
Peter shook his head "When are you going to see the reality in all of this?"
"Maybe never? This just so happens to be our reality."
"That may be true but..."
"But what?" Bella interrupted "You don't want to see your precious little girl in the middle of all of this? I don't know if you noticed, dad, but I already am in the middle of all of this! And not by choice, either. I was born in all of this! Why do you have to be so soft on me? Why are you trying to stop me from being who I am? A werewolf!"
Bella was starting to get angry and was on the verge of losing control. "I spent half of my life as a human and I'm not going back to acting like one. I'm in the fight whether you want me to or not!"
When Bella stood up, her eyes glowed and she started to growl. Peter quickly put his arms around his daughter, pulling her into his chest, trying to calm her down as she tried to pull away but Peter was stronger. He didn't know what to say to her, other than shushing her. "It's alright. You're okay."
"I'm sorry." Bella whispered as she calmed down.
Peter glanced down at her, "You have nothing to be sorry for, sweetheart. It wasn't your fault. You lost control." Peter said in a calming voice that made Bella relax even more.
"It was your fault to begin with."
Peter sighed, "Point taken."
"Dad." Bella said as she let go of Peter
"Yes?" Peter asked in a soft voice
"I'm going to Mexico whether you want me to or not."
Peter sighed once more. "Fine. But you stay close to me at all times."
Bella grinned in amusement
"Cheeky brat." Peter said, ruffling her hair.
Downstairs, Derek and Braeden were preparing to leave for Mexico by gathering all the weapons they could get, Without his powers, Derek has no choice but to use a gun,
"I still don't like relying on these things." Derek said, referring to the guns on the table.
"I get it." Braeden said "You miss your power. I would too."
Derek shook his head "It's not about power, it's about being able to help.I don't like feeling helpless"
"I'm human. Do I look helpless?"
"You're a much better shot than me."
"Do you really think that you won't be coming back?" Braeden asked
"Not alive."
"You know I'm not okay with that." Braeden said, moving closer to Derek
Derek looked up at Braeden and kissed her
Derek sighed as he broke the kiss "I am. If it saves Scott and Kira"
Derek then looked at all the weapons on the table. "To be honest, I don't even know if this is enough firepower to take down one Berserker."
"Not even close." Peter said coming down the spiral stairs, with Bella behind him "Killing a Berserker is next to impossible. It's not just the firepower, it's breaking the animal spirit from the human."
"Well, the one person we know with that kind of experience is Argent." said Derek "And he's not getting back to me."
"Well, then you're going to need help. Like Malia, maybe Liam. Definitely me." Peter said with a smirk
"And me." Bella jumped in
"You're coming with?" Derek asked
"You damn right I am."
