Bella sat on the couch in the apartment. She was pretending to read homework material for school when really, she was reading one of Peter's text books titled Evil Spirits. With the Oni wandering around down and Stiles being possessed by a dark spirit, she wanted to be prepared for what would happen.
Peter came from around the corner putting his jacket on.
"Where are you going?" Bella asked, looking up from the book
"I am going to talk to Derek. You are going to stay here where it is safe." Peter told her, kissing her forehead
"Dad, I don't want to be alone." Bella told him. She wasn't particularly sure that something would happen to her, it was highly unlikely to be attacked by an Oni during the day but more worried about what Peter was going to do. Peter stopped for a moment. He tilted his head as he noticed the pages of the book she was reading.
Peter chuckled as he took the book from Bella's hands "I thought you were doing your homework."
"This was more interesting to learn." Bella looked down guiltily
Peter nods
"Bells, you can come if you want to. I will always make sure that you are safe, but I truly think it is a better idea to stay here. " Peter said sternly
"Nope." Bella said as she went to put her shoes on
Peter rolled his eyes as he shook his head "Stubborn."
Bella heard that "A trait I got from you, old man."
"Old man, is it? I am appalled!" Peter mocked
Bella laughed, "And you can be so hard headed."
"Oh really?" Peter smirked as he ruffled his daughter's hair
"Hey stop it." Bella laughed as she attempted to fix her hair.
"And you call me hard headed?" Peter smirked as he kissed her forehead again.
They left the apartment and made their way to Derek's loft. They went inside to see Derek setting up a chess board. Peter walked up behind him and see that Derek was bloodied
"What are you doing? And more importantly, why aren't you healing?" Peter asked walking around him
Derek looks at the wound on his shoulder "It's from one of their swords, it'll heal."
"By playing chess?" Peter asked condescendingly
"Back in his room, Stiles had a board with my name on one of the pieces. If this is a game to him, I need to figure out the plays" Derek said
"Not easy to do when it's a game without rules." Peter replied
Derek looked up at Peter looking worried "What does that mean?"
"You're dealing with the kind of spirit that's lived too long to play by human rules. It's a fox spirit that chose to become human and supposedly that's something they can only do after about a hundred years. If a Kitsune is an annoying pain in the ass than a Nogitsune which is a dark Kitsune, is a freaking disaster."
Bella thought back to the book she was reading back at the apartment
"Besides, chess is Stiles' game." Peter continued as he was putting his jacket back on "Not the game of a Japanese fox. Do yourself a favor and put something on that. Before it gets infected."
Peter gave Bella the 'let's go' glance. She got up and followed Peter out of the loft and went back home.
Later the next day, Peter got a surprise call from Lydia asking for his help.
"I'll help. But only if you give me the name." He tells her
Lydia hesitated but agreed to the deal
Peter and Bella made their way to the McCall house. Scott, Lydia, Deaton, and Melissa were there. Peter went inside and circled around a tied up Stiles with his mouth taped shut.
"He doesn't look like he would survive a slap across the face, much less the bite of a werewolf." said Peter
"You don't think it would work?" Scott asked
"This is more a war of the mind than the body." Peter said "There are better methods to winning this battle."
"What kind of methods?" Deaton asked
Peter took Scott by the wrist and held his claws out "We're gonna get into his head."
Lydia and Peter stepped into the hallway. Bella noticed that Peter was talking to Lydia. She had a feeling she knew what they were talking about. But it was her father's choice and she couldn't interfer. They then walked back into the living room.
"Do we have a plan?" Deaton asked
"Scott is going to try and dig through pale and sickly evil Stiles' mind, to unearth pale and sickly real Stiles. Then guide him back from the depths of his own subconscious. But he's not going to do it alone." Peter explained
"What do you mean?" Scott asked
"Someone has to go there with you." Peter said as he drew his gaze towards Lydia.
Scott and Lydia stood behind the couch where Stiles was sitting.
"What do we do if we find him?" Scott asked as Peter placed Scott's claws directly behind Stiles' neck and Lydia's
"Well, you're gonna have to guide him out somehow." Peter replied "Try and give him control of his mind and body"
"Can you elaborate on the 'somehow'?" Lydia asked "It's not feeling very specific at the moment.
"Improvise." Peter said
"What if this is another trick?" Scott said
"When are you people going to start trusting me?" Peter asked
"I meant him." Scott said, referring to Stiles
"Oh."
"Scott, we're running out of time." Deaton told him
Scott took several deep breaths and pushed his claws into their necks. Peter, Bella, Melissa and Deaton stood before them and observed the event.
After a while, Lydia started to bleed through her nose.
"Look at that." said Melissa "Do you see that?" She's bleeding."
Deaton held Melissa back as Peter moved closer towards Lydia. Peter had a worried look on his face as he bent down in front of her and cupped her face.
"What's happening?" Bella asked
"Lydia, can you hear me?" Peter said "Lydia, you're stronger than this. Okay, you need to concentrate. Lydia." Peter then shouted right at her "LYDIA!"
Few minutes later, Scott and Lydia came out but Stiles was still unconscious.
"What happened? Did it work?" Scott asked
"What happened?" Lydia asked "Why didn't it work?"
Peter grabbed Lydia's arm and pulled her aside. Bella watched this occur. "Because it's not science, Lydia. It's supernatural. I did my part. Now give me the name."
Scott turned around "What name? What are you talking about?"
Bella sighed as she knew what Peter meant. Peter and Lydia moved further away from the living room
"Lydia, a deal is a deal." said Peter "Even with me."
Lydia whispered in Peter's ear but unfortunately, Bella heard it. As soon as Lydia said "Malia", Stiles woke up gagging.
Peter ran to Bella, forcing her to stand behind him. Everyone watched in horror as Stiles three up mountains of gauze wrap. Once finished, a hand began to rise from the gauze. What looked like the Nogitsune, stood up from the gauze, almost as if it was coming through the floor. When the Nogitsune took a step towards all of them, Peter and Scott both went to hold him back.
'Hold him!" Peter yelled at Scott
"I'm trying!" Scott yelled back
The Nogitsune was trying to unwrap the gauze on its face.
"Wait!" Scott yelled and began to unwrap the gauze. The person inside it was Stiles. The real Stiles.
"Scott?" Stiles said, looking confused
Deaton stepped forward "Scott."
The Nogitsune Stiles was gone. And so was Lydia.
"Where are they!?" Scott yelled as he ran out the door, calling Lydia's name.
