Four months had passed. April had come and gone. It was now the middle of August and the school year was starting back up again.
So much has changed since then: Derek moved into the loft where Bella once lived. Allison and Chris Argent went to France for the summer. Jackson moved to London, permanently. He became the American Werewolf in London, which Bella gets a kick out of saying that.
But also, Erica and Boyd were missing. No one knows what had happened to them so Derek and Isaac have been searching for his betas.
Bella was starting to dread having to go back since she missed the remainder of last year. If anything, she didn't want to go back to Beacon Hills Junior. She was miserable there. Bella talked to Peter and agreed to enroll her in another school outside town. She was thrilled that she didn't have to go back to her previous school. But she was also nervous about going someplace new.
The week before, Bella walked over to the Macy's store. She found herself in the makeup section. She couldn't figure out which cover and foundation to get.
"I know you." a voice came behind her.
Bella turned and saw Lydia
"And I know you, too." Bella remarked
"Little young for makeup, are we?"
"Well, I'm not looking at some to look pretty. Just trying to find something that would help cover up the..." Bella motioned to the scar across her face.
"Oh! Of course." said Lydia. "Maybe I can help"
"Thanks. I know nothing about makeup."
Lydia started grabbing a bunch of different covers and held the samples out to compare Bella's skin tone. Nothing was a perfect match.
"This place is a bust." said Lydia looking bummed
"It's fine." Bella said, looking disappointed
Lydia could see right through the disappointment "Nope. I have a whole bunch of stuff back home. Why don't you come with me and we'll see if we can find your perfect match."
Bella was unsure. "I don't know..."
"Hey, you can trust me." Lydia tells her
"And I don't trust easily."
"Do you trust Scott?" Lydia asked
"I think so." Bella replied, not really sure how to respond to that.
"Then you can trust me."
"Alright. But only if you give me a ride back home."
"Deal." Lydia smiles
Lydia drives Bella to her house. She takes Bella's hand and leads them to her bedroom upstairs. Lydia's room was full of purple and pink. Bella looked around as Lydia went to her makeup counter.
"You weren't kidding when you said you had a lot of makeup." Bella observed
"A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do." Lydia said with a smile "Now, let's take all of this and see what we can find, shall we?"
Within minutes, they found the perfect tone for Bella's skin. Lydia showed Bella how to apply the makeup to her skin. They managed to cover up her scar with barely anything showing, almost as if Bella was never scratched to begin with.
"My god" Bella said, eyes widened in shock
"What do you think?" Lydia asked
"I'm thinking that I can rock this. Look at this! It's like I never had a scratch! I've almost forgotten what my face looked like before this. This is unbelievable!"
Lydia giggles "That's the power of makeup for you!."
Bella turns to look at Lydia. "Thank you so much. You are a lifesaver!"
"Well, anytime that you need girl tips, I'm here."
"I may take you up on your offer." Bella laughed
It was now after 4pm and Bella had to get home. She told Lydia where she was living now and Lydia drove her home.
"I can't thank you enough." Bella told Lydia
"Well, you can call me anytime for help." Lydia said "Us girls gotta stick together."
Bella got out of the car and made her way up to the apartment. She opened the front door and saw Peter in the kitchen. She could not wait to see Peter's reaction to her scar disappearing.
"Hey, I'm home!" Bella announced as she walked in
"Just in time. I'm making spaghetti for dinner." Peter said with his back turned towards her
"Meat sauce?" Bella asked
"Making it right now."
Bella jumped with glee "Alright!"
"When have I ever made something that you didn't like?"
"You've had your moments." Bella joked
"Oh really?" Peter snarked as he turned to look at Bella "Am I that much of a terrible cook?"
"I never said that!" Bella laughed as Peter was looking at her.
Peter was squinting his eyes in confusion, almost as if he was trying to make sense of something.
"I think the sauce is burning, dad!" Bella said
Peter turned over to the stove to stir the sauce.
'Well worth it." He said as he clicked the burner off.
The two of them sat down at the table. Peter kept looking back and forth at Bella. He couldn't seem to figure it out. But his staring was noticeable. Bella was trying so hard not to laugh
"What?" Bella asked
"I don't know. Something seems different." he tells her
"Do I have something on my face?" she asked with a grin, holding back laughter.
Peter then slammed his hand on the table as he realized what was missing. "What the hell did you do to your face now?"
Bella was laughing hysterically as she pulled the tube of makeup from her pocket "Say hello to my new friend."
Peter took the tube from her hands to observe it. He then raises an eyebrow back at her. "Makeup?"
"Well, I never thought I'd ever use it." Bella admits "But I wanted something to cover my face up. I didn't want to go to a new school and be stared at."
"Okay." Peter said, not sure what to say next.
"If it makes you feel better, I had help from someone who knew what they were doing." Bella told him
"And who might that be?"
"Lydia."
Peter looked at his daughter in surprise "You asked Lydia for help?"
"Well no. We ran into each other at the store. She saw that I was struggling and offered to help."
Peter nods
"But it was worth it." she said "Do you not like it?"
Peter took Bella's hand "You look beautiful, sweetheart."
Belle went to bed early that night as she had to get up for school the next morning. Bella still continued to get nightmares but not in the way that she had been getting them. She hasn't dreamt about the fire or Gerard. She's dreaming of something else entirely.
Bella was running through the woods. Something was following her, chasing her. Bella ran as fast as she could but she wasn't quick enough. Whatever was tracking her was right at her heels. She ran down a hill, and a loose tree root caught her foot. Bella tumbled forward, skidding to a stop. She looked up and a wolf jumped at her, tearing the skin of her ankle with its sharp teeth.
"Help!" she cried but no help came.
The wolf let go of her ankle and launched at her face
Bella sat up in bed, sweats pouring down her. She was breathing heavily. Peter came right into her room and came straight over to her bed. Bella immediately buried her face in his chest, wrapping her arms around him.
"It was just a dream Bells." Peter whispered softly in her ear. Bella calmed down and pulled away from Peter. "I could hear your heartbeat beating rapidly and you calling my name from my room."
"It was just so bizarre." she said "It wasn't like the others."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Bella sighed as she shook her head "No. It's nothing worth mentioning. If it was, I'd tell you."
Peter nods."Why don't you try and go back to sleep. You have school in the morning."
