Hope was restored.
The Avengers helped the citizens on Yelp floating city into the lifeboats so they can get to safety. Even Rhodey as War Machine showed up and assisted Tony by keeping Ultron's sentries away from the Hellicarrier.
As you and the other heroes are in the city, Thor is at the abandoned church where the Doomsday Trigger is. He is fighting Ultron. He punches the Asgardian and grabs him by the neck.
Ultron: You think you're saving anyone?
Thor struggles in his grasp.
Ultron: I turn that key and drop this rock a little early and it's still billions dead. Even you can't stop that.
Thor: I am Thor, son of Odin, and as long as there is life in my breast...
Thor continues to stall while being held by Ultron.
Thor: I am running out of things to say! Are you ready?
Suddenly, Vision flies in and hits Ultron with Mjölnir. The robot goes flying through a wall and into the lot outside. The synthezoid hands Thor back his hammer.
Vision: It's terribly well-balanced.
Thor: Well, if there's too much weight, you lose power on the swing, so...
Out of nowhere, sentries start arriving at the church. The two start fighting them off and it wasn't long until the speedster, Pietro, arrives to assist. You and Steve show up as well, with Daryl and Wanda arriving moments later.
Tony drops down, meeting up with the rest of you. He speaks into his comms.
Tony: Romanoff? You and Banner better not be playing "hide the zucchini."
Andrea drives toward the church in a truck. She responds.
Andrea: Relax, shellhead. Not all of us can fly.
She parks the vehicle and exits. She walks over to the rest of the team.
Andrea: What's the drill?
Tony motions over at the Doomsday Trigger.
Tony: This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose.
Hulk arrives seconds later, landing on two robots and crushing them. He lets out a roar as he enters the church. Outside, Ultron hovers above the church. Everybody looks up at him as Thor yells.
Thor: Is that the best you can do?
Ultron raises his arm and summons an army of robots. They start sprinting towards the church. You pant as you look on.
You: You had to ask...
Ultron: This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you against all of me. How can you possible hope to stop me?
Tony nods, and looks over at you.
Tony: Like the web-head said...together.
Hulk lets out another roar as the robots start entering the church. You and the rest of the Avengers start fighting off the threat.
Cap throws his shield, Thor swings his hammer, Tony shoots repulsor beams, you use your web-shooters, Daryl shoots from his bow, Wanda uses her magic and Andrea uses her firearms. Pietro uses his super-speed, Hulk pummels the robots, and Vision uses his enhanced strength and flight.
The team works together in harmony, keeping Ultron's sentries away from the Trigger. You weren't going to let the homicidal robot win.
Ultron sees this, and chooses to fly in to do the job himself. Vision stops him, and they begin fighting in the air. Vision ultimately uses his beam from the Mind Stone to blast him out of the church.
Iron Man and Thor join in afterwards. Tony shoots repulsor beams and Thor shoots bolts of lighting from Mjölnir at Ultron. This combined with Vision's beam start melting Ultron's vibranium armor, and the mad robot gets on his knees. The trio stop attacking.
Ultron slowly gets up and looks at the three heroes. His body is sparking and mangled.
Ultron: You know, with the benefit of hindsight—
Hulk immediately runs in and uppercuts Ultron, sending him flying miles away. Ultron's sentries see this, and choose to flee the scene.
Many of the robots tried to leave the area, but War Machine and Vision took it upon themselves to take as many down.
You and the rest of the team are still at the church. Steve begins to speak.
Steve: We got to move out. Even I can tell the air is getting thin. You guys get to the boats. I'll sweep for stragglers. Be right behind you.
You: What about the core?
Wanda: I'll protect it. It's my job.
You nod, and look at Daryl and Andrea.
You: Let's go fill up those remaining boats.

You, Steve, and Thor were on the street taking down stragglers and leading remaining civilians into boats.
Steve: You think that's all of them?
Before you can answer, you see Daryl running out of a lifeboat in the distance and towards some cars. Then, your spider-sense goes off.
You hear a jet-engine above, and see the Quinjet flying towards you. Ultron was piloting it.
You: Get down!
The three of you leap out of the way as Ultron starts raining down machine gun fire. You roll over and get back on your feet, looking up at the flying aircraft. It seems to have gone by in nanoseconds, as it flies away from the area. You look ahead, and see Daryl shielding a little boy. Behind him, is Pietro, who stumbles and says something to him. The speedster falls to the floor, and you, Steve, and Thor run over to them.
You get on a knee beside Pietro, and see his body riddled with bullet holes. Daryl is in shock as he still holds the boy. Steve lowers his head in sorrow. Thor snarls and look up, using his hammer to fly away from the scene back to the church.
You: I got him. Let's...take him back to the lifeboats.
Daryl nods, not responding. Steve speaks.
Steve: I'll be right behind.
You carry Pietro's body to one of the lifeboats, placing him on the floor near a set of seats. Daryl brings the boy back to his worried mother, and walks back to you. He lays on the set of seats, looking at Pietro's corpse. You sit in a seat across from him, looking in in sorrow. You start to think of Wanda, and wonder how she'll react to the news of her brother's death.
Suddenly, your spider-sense goes off again. You get up and look over the railing, and see Sokovia start to fall.
Nearby, Steve leaps onto one of the lifeboats before he can plummet with the rock. Tony and Thor work together to deal with the situation before it can impact the surface.
Tony: Now!
Thor brings his hammer down and hits the core, emitting a massive shockwave across the city. The slab of rock starts to crumble, and Sokovia ultimately breaks away into millions of pieces. Thor and Tony fly away as the debris plunges into the waters below.
Sokovia was gone. All that remained of it was a crater from where it stood.

Ultron climbs out of the crater and into the forest, inhibiting a body of one of his mangled sentries. He had just been taken down by Hulk and then Wanda after murdering Pietro.
He stood in the forest until he faced The Vision, who expected his arrival.
Vision: You're afraid.
Ultron: Of you?
Vision: Of death. You're the last one.
Ultron: You were supposed to be the last. Stark asked for a savior and settled for a slave.
Vision nods.
Vision: I suppose we are both disappointments.
Ultron laughs.
Ultron: I suppose we are.
Vision: Humans are odd. They think order and chaos are somehow opposites and try to control what won't be. But there is grace in their failings. I think you missed that.
Ultron: They're doomed.
Vision looks down, then back up at him.
Vision: Yes, but a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts. It's a privilege to be among them.
Ultron: You're unbearably naive.
Vision: Well, I was born yesterday.
Ultron tries to attack Vision and pounces. Vision charges his Mind Stone and shoots the robot with a beam, destroying him once and for all.
