Captain America laid out a plan. He wanted to close the portal before things became too much to handle. He wanted eyes on everything, and every stray Chitauri dealt with.
Tony and Daryl were in charge of the perimeter. Thor was in charge of bottlenecking the portal and slowing the invaders down. You, Steve, and Andrea were in charge of dealing with the aliens on the ground, keeping the fighting there. For Hulk, all he had to do was smash.
An alien charges but you react and flip over it. You shoot a web at its back and pull it down. You stomp on its head, cracking its skull and putting it down for good. Once again, they weren't human, so anything goes.
Your spider sense goes off, and you quickly do a spinning back kick at the alien about to stab you. It goes flying back back, and you shoot an electric web at it while on the ground. You steal its spear with a web-line while it's down, and leap towards it afterwards. You stab into the alien's chest and kill it.
Nearby, Andrea had finished defeating an alien herself. Steve jumps in and checks on his fellow Avengers. Andrea leans against the hood of a car and pants.
Andrea: Captain, none of this is going to mean a damn thing if we don't close that portal.
The three heroes look up.
Steve: Our biggest guns couldn't touch it.
You look at the Chitauri spear Andrea is holding. You get an idea. Maybe it's just Earthly weapons that can't get it done.
You: Well, maybe it's not about guns.
Steve and Andrea get an idea of what you're referring to.
Steve: If you want to get up there...
You chuckle.
You: Please, Cap. I'm Spider-Man. I have a way.
THWIP!
You swing up and start web-slinging towards Stark Tower. You don't expect a smooth trip there, and that expectation is proven when aliens on gliders start shooting lasers at you. It kind of reminded you of your encounter with both Norman and Louis.
You: Hey...you guys aren't Goblins!
You run along the side of a building and leap off of it, landing on one of their gliders. You hit the back of an alien's head, and throw him off the glider.
You: Thanks!
You start piloting it yourself.
You: Always wondered how it felt to ride things like these.
Suddenly, more lasers start shooting at you. Loki is on his own glider behind you, trying to blast you out of the sky. You speak into your comms.
You: Hawkeye! A little help?
Daryl: What are you doing, kid?
You: Hero stuff! Can you shake him off me?
In the distance, Daryl is perched up on a rooftop. He sees you on the glider behind chased by Loki and his army. He smirks.
Daryl: I got him.
He shoots an arrow that travels through the sky. It's about to hit Loki, but he grabs it in mid-air before it can impale him. He smiles.
But it suddenly beeps and explodes.
Loki's glider is destroyed and Loki flies off of it. He lands on the platform at Stark Tower, where he stood before.
Full circle.
You fly up to the top of the tower and leap off of the glider, landing on rooftop near the reactor. You see the Tesseract powering it. You walk over to it, then hear a voice to your right. It's Dr. Selvig who's on the floor.
Dr. Selvig: The scepter. Loki's scepter. The energy. The Tesseract can't fight but you can't protect against yourself.
You: It's not your fault, Doctor. You didn't know what you were doing.
Selvig pauses for a moment.
Dr. Selvig: Actually, I think I did. I built in a safety to cut their power source.
You nod and know what very thing can be used to do it.
You: Loki's scepter.
Dr. Selvig: It may be able to close the portal.
He looks over the edge at the platform below. Loki's scepter is on the floor.
Dr. Selvig: And I'm looking right at it.
You leap off and land on the platform. You look through the shattered windows of the building, and see Loki on the ground in a shallow crater. Hulk had just took him down with ease.
Puny God.
You grab the Scepter and swing back up to the reactor. Dr. Selvig had recovered and started setting up the console. He looks at you,
Dr. Selvig: Right at the crown!
You start stabbing the Scepter into the force-field surrounding the reactor. Sparks start flying everywhere as you try to insert it. It was easing it's way in. You speak into your comms.
You: I can close it. Can anybody copy? I can shut the portal down.
Steve: Do it!
Tony: No, wait.
Steve: Stark, these things are still coming.
Tony: I got a nuke coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute.
You: What? A fucking nuke?
Tony: I know just where to put it.
Meanwhile, Tony flies towards the incoming missle. He grabs onto it and starts diverting its path.
Steve: Stark, you know that's a one-way trip.
Tony ignores him and speaks to JARVIS.
Tony: Save rest for the turn, J.
JARVIS: Sir, shall I call Miss Potts?
Tony pauses.
Tony: Might as well.
Iron Man continues to fly with the nuke. Everybody who are able to watch on television see the broadcast and witness the armored man diverting the missile. He accelerates his thrusters and soars all the way up the tower and straight into the sky. You see the streak of red and gold, and hope Tony will be able to make it out of this.
Tony goes into the portal, and lets the nuke fly into space, officially saving the city from the nuclear explosion. All that needed to happen was for the portal to close and end this alien invasion. You look up at the portal, and see the explosion happening in space.
You: Come on, Tony.
Steve hopes he comes back to Earth too, but doesn't want to risk the explosion coming through the portal.
Steve: Close it.
You stab the Scepter into the reactor and at the crown. It deactivates the portal and the beam disappears. You see it start to close.
Fortunately, Tony comes through the wormhole before it fully shuts. His unconscious body plummets towards the Earth. Andrea and Steve smile.
Steve: Son of a gun.
Thor looks up and starts to worry.
Thor: He's not slowing down.
Suddenly, Hulk flies in and grabs Tony. He glides along the side of a building before landing on the street and laying his body down. You swing into the area soon after.
Steve: Is he breathing?
You kneel beside Tony and rip off the face plate of his helmet. Steve leans over and tries to hear if he's breathing. He was unresponsive. Before the thought of a another possible casualty can enter their minds, Hulk roars and wakes up Tony. He gasps.
Tony: What the hell? What just happened?
You sigh, and let out a chuckle.
Tony: Please tell me nobody kissed me.
You: Yeah, it was Rogers.
Steve shoots a look, but ends up laughing too. Tony wasn't sure if they were joking or not.
Steve: We won.
Tony sighs, and lays his head back down on the floor.
Tony: All right, yay! Hurray. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day.
You: That I can agree with, Stark,
Tony leans forward and looks at his teammates.
Tony: Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about to blocks from here.
You and Steve share a light laugh.
Tony: I don't know what it is, but I want to try it.
Thor looked up towards the tower.
Thor: We're not finished yet.
You all look at the Asgardian, knowing he's mentioning Loki. Tony nods.
Tony: And then shawarma after.
Meanwhile, Loki crawls out of the shallow crater in the tower. He groans as he rests against the steps. He pants, and looks up. He isn't startled at the sudden arrival of the heroes.
You, Tony, Steve, Thor, Andrea and Hulk stand tall, with the female assassin holding the staff. Daryl is knelt down in front, aiming his bow at Loki.
The Avengers have defeated him.
Loki: If it's all the same to you...
Loki groans again as he props himself onto his elbows. He looks at Tony.
Loki: ...I'll have that drink now.
