How I incorporated both in the same chapter, I don't know.

You coughed aggressively as the swiffer duster you were holding kicked a cloud of year old dust in your face.

"Gross"

You mumbled, suddenly glad you had decided to wear gloves and a face mask to complete this project. Cleaning out your grandparents old house was not how you planned to spend your winter break, but with both of your parents in despair at the loss of the two oldest members of your family, it was up to you to help them out.

Part of your reason for agreeing to do this in the first place, was because your grandparents had some cool stuff in their house. You'd always been fascinated by their old home as a child, but you couldn't do much exploring when you were young.

They had all kinds of amazing antiques that you would love to salvage before your greedier family members came in and sold them for whatever money they were worth. To you, objects had a greater value than just that. They were stories, moments in time, and you were determined to see everything in this house before you left today.

✨✨✨

So far your collection of cool items was at a minimum. Despite seeing some interesting things, you had your heart set on taking home their old (yet fully functional) rotary phone. By now you had finished the entire ground level, and had just made it to the second floor when you saw the thin rope swinging down from the middle of the hallway. It was attached to a hook, the same one you had always remembered seeing as a kid and being warned never to touch. The trapdoor that led to the attic.

You looked around almost as if checking to make sure no one would see you, but then you realized there was no one here. You were an adult and could do what you wanted. You took the cord in your hand and gave it a firm tug, making sure to step back quickly as a loud creaking accompanied the unfolding of the stairs, a new wave of previously undisturbed dust coming with it.

"Geez"

You mumbled, as you swatted the particles away from your face. As it settled, you stepped forward and placed a gloved hand on the ladder, letting your duster hang by the strap as you climbed up the old wood. You hauled yourself up through the ceiling and in an instant there you were. The attic. A room you had only dreamed about as a child.

You couldn't help the "wow" that slipped past you as you looked around at all the treasures collecting dust over time. Light shone in though one circular window at the peak of the ceiling, and a skylight illuminated the middle of the room. The wooden planks creaked under your feet as you walked around examining everything you could see. They had amazing treasures. You didn't know how you could fit everything into your tiny apartment.

As you walked around, the glint of something shiny caught your attention. You followed your eye to a crate right behind where the skylight was illuminating the floorboards. Being careful to avoid splinters, you picked up what appeared to be an old oil lamp. It was very dusty, but you could tell by the weight alone that it was made of real gold. That would explain why it was still shiny after all these years. You went under the skylight and sat down, trying to make out what it said on it.

"Stupid dust"

You mumbled, grabbing your swiffer duster and rubbing it back and forth across the metal. The gold shone brightly in the afternoon light. Then, it started to shining brighter. You blinked quickly, trying to understand if you were imagining things. You weren't.
