Jihae silently opened the door, heading straight to her room. After getting changed to comfortable pajamas, she entered the kitchen to grab some water and stopped mid way noticing her mother's presence. "Oh you're home early today" Jihae said, walking towards her who was looking at the papers in front of her. "I don't have any meetings tonight" She replied before diverting her attention back to the papers.
"Seyeon unnie wanted to return this. Why? Jihae asked as she placed the car keys on her desk. "I told her to quit. When I thought about it, it felt like you were being caged and restricted" She nodded in response. "Mom.. I broke the promise. I met Jaemin. Today is his birthday so with unnie's help I went to meet him at his house- with all my friends as well" Jihae genuinely confessed earning her attention.
"Why? Why did you break the promise when you know I won't like it?" Jiyoung asked, placing the sheet in her hand down, looking at her daughter in front. "Because I like Jaemin. I won't do it again, sorry" Jihae gave her a quick bow walking away but stopped hearing her name being called out.
"Take this" Jiyoung handed the phone to her and Jihae quietly stood there, confused. "You got into the college I wanted you to and are getting good grades so just take it" Jiyoung said motioning her to take it. Jihae nodded grabbing the phone before going back inside her room.

"Sorry Jaemin I can't come home tonight cause of work. We will go to the restaurant in the weekend okay?" Jaemin hummed in response before biding Hyungsik a bye and ending the call. "What did he say?" Jaemin shook his head making Seongmi sigh.
"Did something good happen today?" Seongmi asked and he furrowed his brows, confused. "It's written all over your face 'I'm happy today'. What happened? Did you meet Jihae?" Seongmi asked sitting down beside him, awaiting his reply. "I did" He replied handing the present she gifted him to Seongmi.
She unwrapped the cover and her eyes widened seeing the gift- Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne. "This surely is expensive. How much does this cost?" She asked while placing it back inside the package with gentle hands. Being a middle-class family, it was her first instinct to worry about the cost.
"Maybe $190..?" She audibly gasped hearing his words. "What?! She didn't have to get such an expensive one. You are lucky to have her Jaemin" Seongmi commented, patting his shoulder earning a chuckle from him.
The two were having a conversation when his phone rang and his mother grabbed the phone reading out the caller ID. "Angel? With a heart? You gave her a nickname too?!" Jaemin snatched the phone from her, embarrassed before standing up and walking towards the balcony before picking up the call.
"Hello An— Jihae"He corrected himself noticing Seongmi silently trail behind him. "You got your phone back?" "Yes. Can we meet? Right now?" "What? Why? Is everything alright?" "I'll tell you everything in person Jaem, meet me at the bridge now" "Okay, I'm coming"
"Mom I need to go, bye" He ended the call hurriedly putting on his shoes and running out of the house. "Take an umbrella it's raining Jaemin!" Seongmi grabbed one, running out of the house only to see him already out of her sight. "What so urgent?" Confused she walked back inside, hoping everything was alright.
