Awkward. That was what Jihae felt sitting next to Jeno, in the public library. Deciding to actually utilize her time for studying, for the weekend test, she stood up but Jeno stopped her. "Where are you going?" He asked, holding onto her hand as though he desperately didn't want her to leave. "Get some books..?" Nodding, he let go off her hand- embarrassed.
Picking out some math reference books she sat down next to Jeno who was solving mock test papers for the mid term, next month. Solving the first question, she got the answer right away. "Hey that's easy" She mumbled moving onto the next one. "I take that back" Her shoulders fell and so did the smile on her face.
A small chuckle was heard making her look up at him. "I can help you with math" He said and the girl nodded. Closing his book, he placed her book in the centre- sharing it and began solving along with her.
He helped her solving all the questions- corrected her mistakes, solved the hard ones she couldn't and made sure she was familiar with the concept. "Is the answer option d? For the last one?" Jihae asked, tapping her foot on the ground hoping she got it right. "Yes" He nodded and her lips curled up into a wide smile. Seeing her he couldn't contain his smile- flashing his famous eye smile at the girl.
"Than—" Jihae's phone rang, cutting her off. Mouthing a 'sorry' she picked the call.
"Hello?" "Where are you?" "Library, why?" "Don't lie Jihae, just tell me if you're—" "I'm studying for the weekend test mom" "Oh. Alone or..?" "With Jeno" Her mother laughed on the other side of the call hearing the name. "Very good. Don't keep studying the whole day, take some break and spend time together got it?" "Fine. Bye" Jihae cut the call.
"You probably heard everything right?" Jeno simply smiled, giving a small nod, making her look away-embarrassed. Looking at the time Jihae's eyes widened. "I can't believe I did math for three hours wow" Jihae patted her shoulder, proudly earning a laugh from the boy next to her. "Let's take a break. Cafe?" He asked and she nodded, grabbing their phones they left to the cafe which was adjacent to the public library.
Grabbing their order, the two sat down finding an empty table. Jihae was on her phone as she sipped onto her coffee until Jeno decided to break the silence. "Jihae.." Hearing her name, she locked her phone, placing it on the table and looked up at him, nodding for him to continue. "About what I said in the class yesterday.." He trailed off, looking down trying to choose the right words. "It was rude of me to say so. I was in no place to tell you your position, I'm sorry Jihae" He finally looked up, meeting her eyes.
"Don't be sorry Jeno, I was being stupid that day. You were right, I should've known my place, I'm sorry" Jihae apologized knowing she was at wrong too. "No Ji, you weren't being stupid. I was just too...jealous that you were spending time with Jaemin than me" He honestly confessed, scratching his nape, face flushed at the embarrassment.
Jihae didn't know how to reply. Hearing his name made her feel like she lost something she adored so much- true, she did enjoy his company, his smile, just everything about being his friend but nevertheless she was hurt by his words. "Are we good now..?" He asked and she nodded. The two broke out into a smile and he looked away feeling contented.
In the end, even if she didn't want to, she knew she would end up with Jeno and all she could do was accept her future with him...
