DELANO POV

"How come you won't let me see the boys?" My mom asked. I mean just because I'm talking to my mom doesn't mean my kids do. I them not mingle with my mom just yet. And plus, Gia has strict rules when it came to my mother. She doesn't trust her still. And I can see why.

"Is it because Gia says no? I'm so happy you two broke up!" She said.

"No it's not because Gia said anything. It's more of a mutual agreement" I said.

"I'm their grandma! I have a right to see them" she said.

"Let's not go there. We are having a good day. Don't ruin it" I warned. She rolled her eyes and walked away. My mother and I are getting along but I won't let her talk bad about Gia. That's not happening. She came back into the kitchen "I don't get it! Aren't you married to Madison?".

I nodded "and?".

"So why are you constantly sticking up for Gia?!. If anything you shouldn't! She broke up with you. Not vice versa" she said.

"Gia will always have a special place in my heart. She gave me two boys. I won't sit there and have anyone talk shit about her. She's doing good for herself. So if you don't have something nice to say. Just shut your mouth" I said.

My mother laughed "if I don't know any better I would say you're still in love with Gia". I didn't disagree. She just looked at me. "What?".

"You don't even disagree. So does that mean you are in love with Gia after four years apart?" She asked.

"Where is this going?" I asked.

"I'm curious on why you got married... how can you mask your love for Gia and have genuine love for Madison. Doesn't sound right" she said.

"Listen What feelings I have isn't your business. Like I said Gia and I were together a long time. She gave me two kids in the process. I can't just erase any feelings I had for her. It's not that easy" I said.

I guess those answers she wasn't feeling it. Oh well. She started the conversation. I got up and left due to the fact I had to drop the boys off at Gia's. Before I took them home I wanted to spend some more time with them. "Dad I'm thirsty" Ryan said. Giving him the drink and still watching Kairo play.

Just looking at Ryan it's crazy how big he's gotten. "Excited about going back to moms house?" I asked. He nodded "yeah.. I miss mom". I smiled "I bet you do. But we need to get going". I grabbed kairos hand and we walked back to car.

When we reached Gia's apartment I walked the boys upstairs. She opened the door and hugged them both. I stood there smiling. "Did you guys have fun with dad?". They both nodded. She looked up at me with a huge smile. "How are you?" She asked.

"I'm good. Can't complain. How are you?" I asked. She shrugged "can't complain neither". We stood there in an awkward silence. "Mom is the food ready yet?" Ryan yelled. "He's always hungry now" she joked.

"I know..." she moved her mouth as if she wanted to ask me something. "I don't know if you ate or Madison is cooking dinner... but if you want you can join us for dinner" she said. My mind should've went to Madison but it didn't. "I guess I'll join you guys if you don't mind".

"Delano... I asked you so it's obvious I don't mind" she joked. Ever since Gia has been working on herself she's been the laid back funny Gia I fell for. She moved to the side so I could walk into her apartment. To be honest I have never really been in here. Nice place. Looking around I'm seeing pictures of both boys.

"I don't remember if you like avocados... she said.

"I actually like avocados" I said. She nodded and went back to setting up the table. Standing there and watching her just trying to make the table into perfection. Both boys came out running up to the table. "Dad your staying for dinner?" Ryan asked.

I nodded "yeah mom invited me". He smiled and sat down. I took a seat across from Gia. This was different from having dinner with Madison. "Are you sure Madison won't mind that you're eating here?" Gia asked.

"She won't mind" I said. Actually it'll be best if I don't mention it to her. "Okay just making sure" she said. Getting lost in conversation the time went by. Both boys were done with their plates. They went to their rooms. Gia was cleaning the table. "Need help?" I asked. "Don't worry about it" she said. She piled all the dishes into the sink. Watching her washed the plates I got up "I feel bad having you do all these dishes on your own. Let me help".

She smiled "okay... I wash and you dry... okay?".

Grabbing the dish towel I stood next to her as she handed me a plate. "So how's married life treating you?" She asked.

"Good. I mean I've been married for two years already. I still feel like we are in a honeymoon phase" I said.

"That's good I guess" she said.

"I'm proud of you. I don't know if I didn't tell you this. But for the fact you worked on yourself. You can see a difference in the person you once were to who you became" I said.

"Aww, thanks! That means a lot. I have a weird question. That ring you gave me is that the same one you gave Madison?".

"No the ring Madison has on is a new ring" I said.

"Oh ok good. I was about to say that's a little odd and weird if you gave her the ring you gave me" she said.

"That ring I gave you... I still have it" I said. She stopped everything and turned to me "Are you serious?".

"Yeah... it's in a secret compartment in my house. I couldn't get rid of it" I said. The tension in the air was thick. She didn't say anything else she just continued to wash the dishes. Figuring I said too much already I just continued to dry what she gave me.

"Well thank you for helping me" she smiled.

"No problem. Thanks for dinner it was very good" I said. She opened door and I walked out. "Good night Delano".

"Have a good night gia" I said. We stared at each other for a small minute. She smiled and closed the door.
