IZZY POV

.

.

.

TWO WEEKS LATER...

Peter and I have gotten very close, but my heart still aches that Caius doesn't love me anymore. I looked at Peter.

"You okay Iz?" he asked.

I nodded. "Just thinking," I whispered.

"About what?" he asked.

"Home," I looked down. "It doesn't matter, they don't care about me," he whispered.

He kissed the top of my head. "Wanna go for a walk?" he asked.

I nodded.

"Maybe I can show you a few skills?"

"Sure," I said and bit my lip.

I went over to the hook and grabbed my jacket putting it on. My heart ached, I couldn't get over it.

I looked down at the floor. I jumped as I felt his hand on my back.

"Izzy, it's just me," he whispered.

"S-sorry," I looked down.

"Come on hun, lets go."

I nodded as he put his arm around me. I leaned my head against him.

"You can talk to me," Peter said.

"No I can't. My heart hurts Peter. I thought he loved me," I looked down at the ground.

"Look at me Izzy, you don't need him in your life. Try not to think of him okay darlin'? You're safe with me and the others. I care for you." Peter said rubbing my side gently.

"Thanks Peter," I whispered. My stomach growled loudly.

"When is the last time you have eaten?" he asked worried.

"Two days ago," I murmured.

"Izzy," Peter groaned.

"Sorry," I whispered.

"You need to eat. I'm getting you something to eat," he sighs.

"Peter I'm not really..."

"Hungry?" he sighed, "Well too bad, you're going to eat something," he said.

I nodded and looked down. "But we have no money."

"Actually..." he bit his lip. "I've been saving," he said.

"Peter... that money should..."

"I know Izzy, I've been saving for a few months... I mean when people give me money.  It should be enough to go out and get something at a deli," he said. "I was going to use it for a jacket or something but this one still works," he shrugged. "So I am going to take you somewhere," he said.

I looked down but nodded.

Peter pulled me close and kissed the top of my head.

I leaned on him.

"It's going to be okay Izzy," he said.

I nodded and sighed.

"Come on, I know a place. I used to go here when I needed to get away from my mom," he said.

I nodded. We walked in silence. There was a white sheet of snow on the sidewalks. "What's the date?" I asked curiously.

"December 20th," he said.

"Wow," I whispered. "This is the first christmas without my mom," I looked away.

He looked down tense.

"It's okay Peter," I whispered. "I mean, it's not, but I'll be okay... I guess,"

"It's going to be okay," Peter whispered.

The rest of the way to the deli we walked in silence.

"Here it is," he said. "It's a sandwich place."

I nodded.

He led me in. It was so warm in here compared to our home. "What do you want, I'll order for you," he said.

"Tuna melt?" I asked.

"Sure," he said and squeezed my hand and walked up to the counter. "A tuna melt and a roast beef sandwich," he said. Peter came back with a slip of paper.

"How much was it?" I asked.

"12.98$" he answered.

I nodded and looked down at the table.

"Are you okay Izzy?" he asked.

I stared blankly at the table.

"Izzy?" he asked.

"Huh? Yeah... sorry spaced off," I mumbled.

"Are you okay?"

"Mhmm, I'm okay," I nodded.

He sighed. "Izzy do you want to talk about anything?" he asked.

"No, sorry. It just. You can't help me on this one," I whispered.

He took my hand gently. "Izzy, talk to me."

"It's nothing Peter," I said hostile.

I nodded and sighs, "Sorry I didn't mean to upset you," he said.

I looked down feeling guilty for snapping at him.

"Peter, it's nothing, I just have to get my head out of my ass and get over Caius," he told him.

He nodded and rubbed the back of my hand.
