"Ready for your first day of school sis?" I asked with a grin.
"I guess" she mumbled.
"Why you sound like that?" I asked scrunching my face up.
She looked up at me and laughed making me feel more confused.
"What is so funny?"
"Have you looked in the mirror since you woke up?" She asked acting like she was holding a laugh back.
I rolled my eyes before standing up from the table to go look in the mirror. August was going back to work today so it was just us here.
Once I got to the mirror my jaw dropped and I felt like I was fuming. I guess since August was awake before me he decided it was a good idea to draw on my face.
I grabbed a rag and wiped my face with warm water getting it all of my face before calling him.
"Wazzam?"
"August the hell is wrong with you writing on my face like we 5?"
He bursted out laughing for like a minute straight before replying.
"Oooh shit dat was funny. What you ain't like my make over?"
"Boy" I said sternly.
"Okay bae, I'm sorry"
"Whatever. See you later" I said rolling my eyes and hanging up before he could reply.
Not even a minute later I got a text from him.
Hubby💜: tf you hanging up on? Better have that attitude fixed when I get home tonight.
I rolled my eyes before grinning a little. His crazy ass.
I walked back into the kitchen to resume my conversation with Maria.
"As I was saying... why're you acting nervous?"
"I just don't know what to expect. It's so different" she shrugged.
"I think you're gonna do good. Just be yourself sis"
"I'm gonna try. I'm dreading it. I wish I was graduating already"
"Only 2 years"
She looked at me with a blank face making me laugh.
"When do you start college?"
"Well I started an online class already but my classes on campus start next week"
"You gonna be all alone this week" she said making a frown.
"Dang, I didn't even think about that"
"You'll be okay. Just binge watch something"
"I'm gonna start Greys Anatomy" I said smiling at the thought. I was always starting new shows but surprisingly never watched that one.
"Okay sis. I'm gonna get some stuff ready for tomorrow"
I nodded watching her walk to her room leaving me alone in the kitchen. I loved that she was here with us instead of back in Memphis. She needed a new space to grow and I just hoped we would be able to help her along the way.
Eventually I got bored sitting there so I went to the room and watched some tv until August got off.
