When the Wind Blows in

When the wind blows in

I stop and stare

and feel it flying through my hair

When the clouds roll in

I sit and wait

for the proper time to celebrate

When the sun is gone

I lose my sight

and lose the weight and gain the light

When the creatures take shelter

I come and claim

the first gentle drops of pouring rain

When the rain starts to drop

I feel so young

as the droplets touch my tongue

When the lightning strikes

I smile and laugh

For a time like this is soon to pass

When the thunder claps

I quiver and shake

for so much joy is hard to take

When the air starts to scream

I sing and dance

as if this rain would be my last

When the storm has peaked

I gasp and fall

and scream and grin and soak in it all

When i start to drift

I am shaken awake

for as soon as it give the sooner it take

When the noises calm

I take a breath

and hold it deep inside my chest

When the droplets slow

I do the same

and kiss goodbye to the pouring rain

And when the storm

comes to an end

the birds come out and I go in.
