Katniss mother pov

Hours and hours of walking each day. And Katniss and Gale know exactly where to go. Insane.

It's the same thing. Waking for miles and miles. Then we all get in the beds made out of scraps, two in each.

Katniss has the occasional nightmare, Gale is there to comfort her

Posy gets a couple bug bites, I can fix them.

We've been doing about the same thing every day, every week.

Until one day, Katniss and Gale announce that we only have five miles left to go.

Five miles.

That took me by extreme surprise. I don't know if I was prepared to see home again after so long.

Suddenly Katniss and Gale stop. I notice that they stop at a small crook in the valley. I don't know why.

"Gale it's our spot. We're home." Katniss says.

Oh. Their spot. Right.

They stand there looking at it like they can't believe it's real. Then, at the exact same millisecond, they look up, grasp hands, and walk.

I see the fence.

I see the houses.

Or what used to be the houses....
