Katniss mother pov

Katniss and Gale walked back from the woods just as dinner was being served. They were again walking closely, but this time, gales fingers were loosely wrapped around Katniss's small hand. They walked over to Us at the table and sat down side by side. I wonder if this is who they really are. If this is how they always are. Smiling and giggling and relaxing, but they only trusted eachother with their true personalities. I bet this is true. Whenever Katniss comes back from the woods, there is still a trace of a smile on her face. When I see them walking off repress the woods, she looks up at him. He returns the gaze. I can see them both smile as their hands connect together on the other side of the fence. The other side of there lives. They share such a companionship and trust with eachother. I can see it when they talk. When they hunt. One watching the others back.

We finished dinner and sat around the campfire. Katniss and Gale were talking intently. Finally they stood up in front of all of us and cause our attention. "Ok so here's the deal. We need better sleeping arrangements, because everyone was obviously cold last night. We need a way to preserve our food for winter." Katniss stated. "We also need to search for herbs for medicine, and make temporary shelters. And gather firewood and stock it somewhere safe and dry so the rain and snow won't damage it. "So here's the plan" says Katniss. "We will gather the meat from the inside of pine trees and stuff animal furs and hides with it for pillows. Also stuff it with the feathers from the birds Katniss shoots." Says Gale. "We will also make a few blankets by weaving grass and using animal furs. And rake away all the pine needles in the area we decide to sleep in. The soft dirt is better than the sharp pine needles." Katniss says. They look at eachother. Gale nods. Tomorrow we will search for fire wood and medical herbs, because we won't have access to it one the snow starts falling." Gale says. " the rest we can cover later. Any questions?" Katniss says. Nobody answers. Rory just pipes up that this is a great plan. I agree with the little boy. Everyone starts to disperse to sleep one last night on the scratchy pine needles, but Katniss and Gale stray. They sit on the edge of the valley. The opening in the rock is just big enough for both of them to fit into. Katniss's head droops a little. Gale delicately puts it down on his shoulder, then wraps his arm around Katniss. This must be a normal spot for them. I smile as I put away the pot I brought with me as I watch the silhouettes off the two strongest people I have ever met. Katniss went into the games. Gale had to watch. She came home the lone victor. They were reunited. I remeber how hard she cried in his embrace. It only brought them closer. They savored every second in eachothers presence in fear they would loss eachother. I understood now
