41. Assurance

"Ro.."

Virat called as he saw him unconscious. He was about to get up seeing him like that but Ab stopped him and said softly,

"Calm down biscuit, you will remove ur drips. It will hurt you. Rohit is here only, don't worry!"

Faf went to call the doctor while Mahi somehow led Rohit to the sofa and helped him lay down. He sat beside him caressing his hair and wiping his teary face.

"But Ab..Mahi bhai.. Ro! What's going on? Why.. Ro.. is.."

Before he could ask more he broke into a coughing fit. He was so confused about what was happening and was irritated due to all the pain. Mahi rushed to him and patted his back, helped him drink water. He said softly,

"Cheeku, kiddo abhi you take rest... U need it, once you will be okay then we will tell you everything! U have to be okay na.. for Anu, Ro... all of us!"

"But Ro.. what happened.. to him?"

He asked being so confused and was so sleepy, tired and exhausted. His eyes were closing but he wanted to know if Rohit was okay.

"Cheeku, please take rest and sleep for sometime. Doctor will check on Ro, he is just tired. He will be okay. U take rest so that when he wakes up, you both will be able to talk. Haina? Rest kar lo abhi kiddo"

Mahi said caressing his hair lovingly. Mahi himself was so overwhelmed with emotions that his Cheeks remembers him and everything. He is whining, he is worried about Ro like always and is calming down in Mahi's presence. It was also normal but was just so special to him at that moment.

"Pakka?" Asked Virat like a child.

"Promise!"

He said to which Virat closed his eyes being assured by his Bhai. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Doctor came inside and checked on Rohit.. "Its weakness and exhaustion which caused him to be unconscious, proper food and sleep is necessary. Just Make sure of that!"

He informed attaching a drip to Rohit.

"Anushka, Ritika you both go home it's already midnight. They both would be asleep anyway. Go home and sleep. Come in the morning, Okay?"

Even though they didn't want to leave their husbands but it made sense as Mahi, Ab and Faf were gonna stay. So they both agreed to that, Faf dropped them home.

It was half hour both of them were sleeping. Mahi stayed with Virat and Rohit. They requested Doctor that Rohit should be in same room. Faf and Ab went to make food arrangements.

'Bhai..'

Mahi who was sitting beside Rohit heard Virat's voice. He went to him.

Mahi asked softly, "ha Cheeku? Kuch chahiye?"

"aap chahiye bhai" Virat said staring him with his innocent eyes.

"mai toh yahi hu kiddo! Tere paas.. kya baat hai?" Mahi said caressing his cheek to which Virat held his hand which was on his cheek.

"dar lag raha hai bhai! What if I close my eyes and you are not there. Itni baar I imagined u caressing my hair and calming me down and I used to go to sleep par when I open my eyes you were not there.."

He said pausing all the while for each and every word. He didn't know what was wrong with him. But now he could care less about it as he saw Mahi bhai and Ro with him. All he wanted to talk with them and assure himself that they were real. And not his imagination or dream which he always had.

Mahi sighed hearing all that, "aise Kyu soch raha hai Cheeku! I am always here with you! Don't worry okay.. sab khatam ho Gaya whatever happened! U are with us" he said softly assuring him.

"Can u sit with me?" Asked Virat with his hoarse voice.

"Ofcourse bacha.. but Abhi aap bahot weak ho and u need proper rest! So u need that space.." mahi said thinking that he should be comfortable.

"Bhai aap sath ho toh  yeh sab kuch matter nahi karta please" he requested.

Mahi slowly helped Virat to make space. He sat beside him. Virat leaned onto his arm keeping his head on his and mahi put his arm around his shoulder. Finally Virat released a sigh feeling content and assured by that physical presence.

"What's the date today bhai?" Asked Virat not aware of the timing and everything around him.

"Oct 2023" mahi said slowly.

"Whattt?? How is that possible?" He asked shockingly.
