22. What just happened

Mahi and Rohit were still waiting outside the ICU for the update on Virat. They may have lost count on how many times they have saw him through that small glass window of the room.. just to assure themselves that he was alive and he was breathing.

'Bhai aap ek baar Akshay se baat karo about getting more information. Also if possible get that guy with help of some people... we need him as Vi is not awake and we don't know how much info Smith has.. we need to know the whole thing.. what happened to Vi? How did he got that big scar on his back? All of it...'

Rohit said wanting to know what all did Virat go through exactly. He himself went through a lot when Virat was away and also now when he was back. The situations were so messed up and it was gonna take time to solve it and know it all.

'This guy.. he was the head of that fixers and bookies right?'

'Yes bhai.. why do you ask suddenly?'

'I am just curious that why he is after Cheeku now?? If he wants revenge for what Cheeku did and for what you did... then why now? That means he doesn't know that Virat is suffering from partial amnesia... that he forgot everything.. he doesn't know that!'

'Yea you are right bhai..'

Rohit agreed and gave a thought to it. If he was the person who had harmed Virat he doesn't know to which extent he has done the harm. Mahi called his guy to coordinate and get that head for all the information.

'Akshay?'

'Yes sir?'

'Listen to me carefully and I want no mistake in this. First take some people with you and one officer will help you. Catch that guy at airport and take him to a place which No one knows.. we need to know the truth and only he is the one who can tell us... understood?'

'Yes sir.. I will keep you updated and be assured that the work will be completed!'

Akshay said hanging up the call.

'Rohit do you know how Jassi was included in all this? As far as I remember this was related to 2022 WC and he was not even part of it'

'No bhai I dont know about that. Virat had just mentioned me how Jassi's career is at stake', Rohit said.

They were still waiting for the update on Virat.

Mahi's mind couldn't help but think about the conversation with Virat ahead of that IndvPak game.

'Nervous about tomorrow's game?' asked Mahi seeing Virat sitting in the balcony lost in thought.

Mahi took a seat beside him, 'A little, umm may be more', answered Virat.

'Don't think so much about it, just go and perform without worrying about result', said Mahi to ease the tension.

Virat took a deep breath, 'Should I ask you something?'

'From when do you need permission Cheeku?', asked Mahi putting his arm around his shoulder, knowing that he needs it.

'You will always trust me right? Means if I do anything out of the blue, I will have your and Rohit's back right? Your support?', Virat asked trying to keep his voice steady.

Mahi pulled him closer, instead of asking why, he just said what Virat needed to hear, 'Always'

Doctor came outside, Rohit shook Mahi out of his thoughts and they both moved towards him hoping to be a good news.

'He is awake', as he said this tears of relief rolled down their cheeks. Rohit immediately hugged Mahi.
But looking at Doctors face Mahi knew there was but coming up with some more news on his Cheeku.

'Can we meet him?' Rohit asked before doctor could say anything else.

'Yes but after sometime. Now I have something important to discuss with you both. Please come to my cabin' Doctor said.

Mahi and Rohit sat in front of the Doctor, they were so nervous about what was it.

'Virat is okay right?' Rohit couldn't help but ask.

'Rohit, for now he is awake, that's what I can tell you. The bigger problem is that His brain has a clot, it got developed over 2-3 months. We have to perform a surgery to remove it. It's little risky knowing he had already suffered injuries'

Mahi and Rohit were shocked to know that.

'Tomorrow we will conduct the surgery' doctor said and gave them space giving them all the information.

'Hello', answered Jinks as he was at his house reading something.

'Jinks?'

'Ash, what's wrong? You sound stressed, is Ro back? Is he okay?' asked Jinks listening to the low voice at the other side.

'Ro is back Jinks, he is back with Virat' informed Ash.

'Virat-- he is back? How is he?' asked Jinks worried for his friend, his closest friend.

'Can you come to xyz hospital? I will tell you everything' Ash said and Jinks immediately agreed to that.

Jinks reached the hospital in half hour.

'Ash?' Jinks called him as he was confused to see Ab and Faf with him.

'Ajju' Rohit saw him and hugged him tightly.

Jinks hugged him back. He looked at Mahi who himself was looking very upset.

'What's wrong?' Jinks asked softly.

'He doesn't-- doesn't remember me anymore. He is sick and all because of me Ajju..' murmured Rohit emotionally. 

'Who doesn't remember?' Jinks asked breaking the hug. 

They sat in the cafe near the hospital as Virat was sedated and they were not allowed to meet him. Mahi narrated everything to Jinks. He was shocked to say the least. 

'Jinks do you know that place in SA?' Ash asked after a min when Jinks was little out of shock.

'Umm no I don't' Jinks answered, 'Dont worry Ro he will be okay'

Rohit just nodded at that.

Just then, Smith and Marnus arrived there. 

'What are you doing here?' asked Rohit moving furiously towards him. 

Marnus stepped in between, 'Umm Rohit please just listen to him once, just once', he requested. 

Rohit stepped back and stood beside Jinks.

'Say the truth Smith' Marnus nudged him. 

Everyone was waiting....

'Truth? what truth? I already said that I hit him with the car.. there is nothing more than that' said Steve and left the cafe. 

Marnus got super confused about his behaviour.. he was ready to say everything.. then how come suddenly he changes his mind.. what just happened??
