Omniscient : Chapter Forty-Four

"God damn Kemar, this for real," Ja whispered as he looked at the ring. He looked like a kid in a candy store.

He seemed more excited than Kemar was, which he wasn't. "That ring was the longest wait, of course, it comes when I'm glued to a hospital bed," Kemar grunted sitting up. "Let me see."

As Kemar held the ring in his hand, he felt a mix of emotions: excitement, nervousness, and a sense of responsibility. He knew that this was not just a beautiful piece of jewelry, but a symbol of commitment and love.

Ja watched as Kemar held it, a smile spreading across his face. He knew that his and Brianna's journey together was just the beginning and that there would be many more highs and lows to come.

"It's crazy how you can be with someone for so long," Kemar started. Josiah shook his head eating his lo mein, "Here he go."

"You know what I mean," Kemar ignored Josiah. "You went through it with Alexus. Now me and Brianna bout to be financed."

"If she says yes." Josiah jokes.

"Nigga if your granny say yes, shut up."

"Imagine proposing in a hospital bed, at least that ring gon' distract her from hating ya' guts." Ja, chimed in.

"Yall some haters. Matter of fact , leave she coming soon."

With a deep breath, Kemar slipped the ring back into its box and placed it on the side table. As he lay back in the hospital bed, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the support of his friends and the love of his soon-to-be fiancée.

He knew that their journey would be filled with challenges, but he was ready to face them with Brianna by his side. As he closed his eyes, he couldn't help but smile at the thought of their future together.

"This happy ass nigga." Ja laughed, sliding his coat on.

Right on cue Brianna walks in, breakfast in hand. Kemar quickly swiped the box and placed it under the cover.

"Ima see you later cuz," Josiah gave her a hug as him and Ja walked out.

As Brianna walked over to kiss him on the forehead, he couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest knowing what he had waiting for her. "Good morning beautiful," he smiled, taking the dunkin donuts from her hands.

With the ring safely hidden away, Kemar focused on enjoying his breakfast with Brianna. They laughed and joked as they ate, enjoying each other's company.

As they finished, Kemar reached for Brianna's hand, feeling the smoothness of her skin against his. Looking into her eyes, he knew that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

"Why you looking at me like that?" She covered her mouth as she chewed.

As Kemar looked at Brianna, he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He thought back to all of their memories together: the laughter, the tears, the ups, and the downs.

He knew that their love had truly been tested, but had only grown stronger with time. With a deep breath, he knew it was time for him to take the next step in their journey together.

"Look I know this isn't the dream place and it's definitely not what I had planned out but, not to piss you off cause I know you hate when I say it," he took a deep breath sitting up reaching for the bouquet of flowers, before she could fully see it, Kemar slid the ring on top.

"Ion really know how to do this, buy uhm. I love you, you know that."

Brianna's one confused expression melted into a foiled one mid chew, "Kemar," she whispered.

"I just want to say that I am so grateful for everything you have given me. The love and support you've shown me through the good and the bad times has meant more to me than words can say. Of course our relationship already sealed without a ring, but I want to make it official and make every moment of your life perfect." He took her hand, swallowing the lump in his throat, "Will you marry me?"

As Brianna looked into Kemar's eyes, she felt a rush of emotions. She couldn't help but think about all of the times that they had been through together, both the good and the bad.

She already knew that Kemar was the person that she was spending the rest of her life with, so it was the easiest decision of her life.

As the tears streamed down Brianna's face, she wrapped her arms around Kemar's neck and whispered, "Yes, of course, I'll marry you."

Kemar felt a wave of relief and joy wash over him as he held her close, knowing that with that simple word, everything fell into place and he knew that his life would never be the same.

"Damn, that took you a lil minute," he jokingly released a breath sliding the ring onto her finger as she stared in daze at the glistening ring.

"You wanna know the details?" he asked, watching as Brianna's expression changed from shock to a wide smile

"You wanna know the details?" he asked, watching as Brianna's expression changed from shock to a wide smile. "Its 14k white gold with 14k rose gold. The diamond is 1-1/2 carats. I think I did pretty good." He stared down at her lips smiling.

"Pretty g-good? Kemar are you crazy? This is a lot more than pretty good." As Brianna admired the ring on her finger, Kemar couldn't help but feel a sense of pride.

He had put so much thought and consideration into choosing the perfect ring for her, and it was apparent that his effort had paid off. Seeing her smile and tears of joy made all of the planning and nerves worth it.

"You like it? You can't think of nothin' better," Kemar teased as he looked at Brianna's ring. He couldn't believe that he had managed to keep the proposal a secret for that long.

"I love it." She mumbled as she stared at the ring.

"Yeah?" He took her hand kissing it.

As Brianna looked up at Kemar, she felt a wave of love wash over her. She couldn't resist the urge to kiss him, to hold him close and never let go.

With one motion, she stood up and pulled Kemar into a deep embrace, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss. In that moment, nothing else mattered; the world simply melted away and all that was left was their love for each other and their sons.

"I love you."
