So much for 'tomorrow being a better day'. After leaving the others to listen to music in your room, you again find it extremely hard to fall asleep. Instead of sitting in your bed tossing and turning, you give up and just continue doing things around your room as if it was completely normal for you to be awake at 3am. Finally around 4:45am you manage to trick your body into sleeping. Unfortunately for you Nat coordinated a group training session for 10:30am. You let yourself stay in bed until 9am before throwing on a sweatshirt and some workout shorts, making your way to the kitchen.

You go to round the corner toward the kitchen when you almost run directly into Yelena. She is holding 2 mugs of coffee in her hands. Some of the liquid in one of the mugs sloshes slightly over the side and drips onto her hand. "Fuck me." She huffs before meeting your eyes.

"Shit, sorry Yelena. I was sort of on autopilot just trying to wake up a bit before training later." She hands you one of the mugs. "You're all good. Here, I made you your coffee already. Hope I didn't put too much creamer in it." You smile and take a sip of the perfectly colored coffee, humming as it hits your lips. She smiles and you both turn around back to your rooms.

"Just so you know, the training session today is only going to be the 4 of us." She says hesitantly.

The 4 of us? Which 4 is that exactly?

Just as you question who is in the group training today in your head she seemingly answers the question as if you asked it out loud. "It's you, me, Nat, and uh Wanda." She hesitates a bit when saying Wanda's name.

Fucking great.

You give her a fake smile as you make it back to your rooms. "Thanks for letting me know. And thank you for the coffee, it's perfect. I'm going to try to wake up but I'll meet you in the training room here soon." She nods and walks through her own door, closing it behind her.

As soon as your bedroom door closes behind you, you let out an audible sigh. It's hard to not to replay your interaction with Wanda last night. Embarrassed that you even pulled her away from the group conversation to talk to her, you're more embarrassed that she heard something you never intended her to when she was inside your head.

'I already know I'm nothing, I don't need you confirming it to me every day!' Why the fuck did I need to think that so loudly in the moment? It's so fucking embarrassing. Now she knows.

Before you know it, there is only 10 minutes left until you are meant to be training with everyone. You quickly put on a workout top, slide your sweatshirt back on over it, take a few sips of the leftover water in your room, and take one last look at your hair before heading out of your room. The only person in the gym is Nat who gives you a smile as you walk in. Not wanting to talk, you quickly smile back and let her know you are going to do a quick warm up before the others get here, making up a lie that you feel slightly more stiff than normal. She doesn't question it, just gives you a nod. Popping in your airpods, you put on some music and do a quick lap around the gym. Turning your jog into a walk, you do another half lap before you stop as far away from the others who have now joined Nat near the front of the room. Plopping into the ground you do some basic stretches, trying to sell your lie.

When you can no longer ignore the group, you make your way up off the ground and jog the remaining half lap back toward them.

"Ok, I know we all have different specialties and ways of fighting but today we are all going to do some hand to hand combat training."

Great, that means partners. Let me make eye contact with Yelena so she knows we will workout together.

Yelena's eyes instantly gravitate towards yours and you both nod in agreement to your non-verbal understanding that you will be partners.
