Gasping for air.. but nothing comes into your lungs.
Suffocating
Drowning.
Dying...
. . . .
My foot hit something.
And it was her.
Laying down on the floor.
"ARACELI." I screamed. Desperately trying to find her face, but the tears and the steam wasn't doing my eyes any justice.
I felt my way around for the shower and turned the hot water off.
The air slowly dissipated and I went down to find her again.
Searching for blood, but I didn't see any.
I was relieved but worried, what the fuck happened.
I saw her face, leaning towards the shower.
"Shit."
I grabbed her gently and picked her up, running out of the bathroom to the bedroom.
Her body was limp.
Was she..?
No.
Don't say that.
"Hey, wake up. Come on." I said, pressing on her chest.
"Araceli.."
No response.
I felt for a pulse, and luckily there was one.
"What did you do?" I said," Did you fall? Did you pass out?"
Millions of thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to figure out what to do.
"Come on, get up for me?"
But she wouldn't budge.
"Alright, i'm calling 911."
I grabbed my phone and dialed the number but to my surprise I heard sirens already.
I ran out of my apartment and got outside to wave them down.
The police car pulled in and an ambulance followed.
"This your apartment?" The cop asked.
"It is, I need help. My girlfriend was in the shower when the shots rang out and when I broke the door down she was on the floor. She has a pulse but I don't think she's breathing."
"Show me." The paramedic asked.
I bolted to my apartment, holding the door open for them," In there." I yelled.
I watched them go to the bed and look at the girl, checking her body for a pulse.
She looked lifeless, and my heart was breaking.
I cant take another life because of my actions..
Because of me, i'm gonna lose another person I love..
