Three days later, Spencer and I are back in work and my mother is coming to our house once a day in order to look after Henry.

"Hey JJ." Jake approaches me with a smile on his face, almost as though last time I saw him, he didn't forcefully kiss me.

"Uh, hi." I try my hardest to smile at the man and he frowns slightly before abandoning his previous path toward me and entering the break room.

I proceed to Mr Anderson's office and knock lightly on the giant wooden door.

"Come in."

I enter the room to find the boss sat at his huge black desk, on the phone to someone. He silently gestures toward a seat in front of him and I take it, folding one leg over the other while he ends the call.

"Can I help you Ms Jareau?" he questions once the phone has been put down.

"I'm ok, I uh- I actually came here to thank you."

"What for?" he frowns slightly while adjusting his seating position in order to lean on the desk.

"For letting Spencer and I take some time off, it's extremely appreciated." I smile and his frown lifts itself from his perfectly sculpted brows.

"It's fine. I expect your nephew is home now?" he asks while relaxing again.

"Well, we actually uh- Spence- Spencer and I are thinking about adopting him." my voice reaches a higher pitch and Mr Anderson's brows raise with it.

"I don't understand."

"Well Tracy- my sister, she hasn't been in contact with us since the whole ordeal. Henry is happy with us and I believe he should stay with us."

There's a short pause as the man takes in my words. "Ok." he finally says and I find myself wondering why I was seeking his say so. "Do you need any more time off?"

"No. No, I think we will be ok. My mother is looking after him."

"Will she be able to do this regularly? Maybe the two of you should think about sending him to a nursery?"

I have no idea how this whole thing arose, or why I'm having an in depth conversation with my boss about my personal life. In the end he informs me on multiple nurseries close to the building and how he will help pay toward the fees.

"Thank you so much Mr Anderson, it's-"

"JJ, call my Andy. Everyone in this shit hole does anyway." he laughs slightly before picking up the phone from his desk and dialling a number.

I attempt a nod, or a wave to let him know in leaving, but he ushers me out. I close the door behind me and Jake is stood directly in my sight.

"JJ-"

"Look jake, I can't do this right now. I have a lot going on and-"

"I'm sorry ok." he grabs my shoulder and pulls me back as I try to walk away. "I understand that you're mad at me, but I also hope you understand I was drunk. I didn't want to upset, or hurt you." His blue eyes flash with emotion and I can't help but feel sorry for him.

"It's fine, I lead you on." I state, understanding that even Spencer thought there was something going on between Jake and I.

"No JJ, was an idiot and I'm sorry for-"

"Shut up." I laugh and a smile spreads over his lips.

"I'll see you at lunch then yeah?" he leaves me stood in the corridor without waiting for an answer.

When Jake is gone I turn to head back to my work area. Spencer is stood leaning side ways against the wall, looking past one of our colleagues whom he is supposed to be speaking to, at me.
