Not Enough Sleep

*Author's note: I did the animagus ritual slightly different.

I slowly walked out of the tower, closing the protrait. She was asleep, as well as all the other paintings. I sighed. I headed down the continuously moving stairs. Part of me tempted to jump and catch myself, but I knew that would've ended up terrible.

I checked my pockets. It was still there. I smiled and quickly ran down the stairs. I made it to my floor. I ran swiftly to the wall. I need my animagus room. I need my animagus room. I need my animagus room. I thought in my head. A small door appeared on the wall.

I walked through it, and smiled, seeing as everything was exactly how I left it. The only difference was the full moon through the skylight. It hit perfectly on my ruins.

I could hear the thunder rolling in. Now I just need to wait. I began to clear my mind. A few seconds passed by, and I heard a lightning bolt strike one of the metal poles. I chucked the viles like there was no tomorrow.

Once the vile was empty, I tapped my heart with my wand, "Amato Animo Animato Animagus."

I kept repeating this. I never stuttered. I just kept repeating this.

***

The morning sun made the dark sky blue. I smiled as I kept repeating the words. I hadn't yawned yet, or messed it up. Thank Merlin.

I saw the door to the ROR open. McGonagall came through. She quietly closed the door, and smiled at me, "You're doing great. You started at midnight, correct?"

I nodded, still saying the words. She came up to me, "Great. Now your whole schedule for today has worked out perfectly according to plan. You must stay in here for the entire day, understand?"

I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Once you get done with the enitre twenty-four hour words, you will need to go back in time. Twenty-four hours to be precise. You will take over the present you's day. You must do this correctly. After your Quidditch game, if nothing goes wrong, we will start on your transfiguration."

I nodded, completely understanding. She nodded, "Okay. I'll see you soon, Ms. Meadows."

With that she left me alone with my thoughts.

***

I nearly yawned twice, but I stopped myself. My eyes were slowly drooping. "AMATO ANIMO ANIMATO ANIMAGUS!"  I started to yell in order to wake myself up. The moon had now shown through the skylight once more.

I continued to say the words as I checked my pocket watch: 11:59.

Okay, I can't stop now. I continued to say the words. I repeated those words a few more times. After the fifth time, I checked my pocket watch.

12:01 AM.

I sighed, and put my wand down. "It's done. I just need...to...go..." I started to drift off, "SNAPE'S ESSAY!" I shot up from my seating on the floor.

I walked towards the door, and looked back. My ruins and everything was still there. "Eh, I'll clean it up sometime."

I walked out the door. Everything was quiet and still. I liked Hogwarts like that. No rushing around, no talking. Peace.

I leaned up against the wall, "I guess I need to go back." I took out my turner, and spun it...twenty-four times. People started to race backwards, and lights went places. Everything looked back the way it was within no time.

I sighed and walked back to the Gryffindor common room.

***

I closed the portrait, and took a deep breath. It smelled of burnt wood, book pages, and...chocolate?  Who...what...never mind.

I walked up the steps to my dormitory. I went inside. I grabbed a quill, ink, parchment, and my text book. I walked back down stairs and sat at one of the desks. I opened my book to page 394. I began to write my essay.

***

"Bridget," I felt someone shake my shoulder. Five more minutes...

"Bridget!" my shoulder shook harder.

I groaned and lifted up my head slightly. I opened my eyes, and I saw Hermione, Harry, Ron, Seamus, and Dean all staring down at me. "What?" I asked.

"You must've fell asleep last night writing Snape's essay," Ron told me.

I looked down. It was nearly complete. I just needed another sentence or two. "I don't remember..." I yawned, "falling asleep."

"I didn't even hear you get out of bed," Hermione told me. "I think we were both tired."

"But you need to hurry and get up, Bridge," Seamus told me.

I gave him a questioning look, "Huh?"

"We have a game in ten minutes," Harry told me.

"Oh Merlin..."

----

I sat on my broom next to Angelia. I yawned a couple of times as Madam Hooch told us to play fair and ya-da, ya-da, ya-da. She threw up the quaffle and I went in for it. I wasn't as small as I had been, but I could still get to it.

I winced as the cold air kept hitting my face. And the fact that it was raining too, didn't make it any better.  I kept hold of the quaffle, though. I could hear all the people cheering, and it made me feel kind of awake.

I looped in a circle, tricking the keeper. I was able to throw it in the top hoop. The Gryffindor team cheered and I zoomed back towards my goals. I noticed Anthony out of the corner of my eye. He smiled, then zoomed away.

I got up by Oliver. I sighed, and yawned.

"You doing okay, Bridge?" he yelled.

"Yeah...just tired."

I watched Harry zoom past me. I saw McGonagall's head nod for me to continue on with the game. I smiled and went after the quaffle. I got in between two Hufflepuff chasers and stole the ball. I was heading for their post when I heard someone call my name, "Bridget."

I looked around, and I saw a Bludger flying towards me. I yelped. I came and hit my broom and ankle. I heard a snap as I started to fall. No...No...No...NO!

***

"Let's walk you up to the Astronomy Tower," I heard a familiar Weasley voice echo.

"Yeah, and see what you look like," I heard the other one.

"Probably better than he usually does," I heard my bestfriend.

I laughed. I opened my eyes, and sat up. I saw that the Gryffindors were gathered around another bed. I smiled. I saw Harry's face look over towards me within the crowd. He saw me and smiled.

"What happened to you?" I laughed.

The entire set of Gryffindors looked to me, "Bridget!" They spread themselves out between Harry and me. Hermione's face seemed pretty relieved.

"Me? What happened to you?" He asked.

"I asked first."

"I asked second."

"You woke up first."

"You woke up...screw it," he sighed. "All I can remember is that I was going after the snitch, then all these dementors came out of nowhere. Next thing I knew, I heard that women screaming and I blacked out."

I knew I should've followed him..."Well. I know that I got hit with a Bludger, and I heard a crack so-argh," I tried to adjust myself, which didn't go well. I uncovered my ankle. There was a bandage wrapped around it. I started to get frantic, "What happened?! Why do I have a cast on?!"

"Calm down, Ms. Meadows," I heard Madame Pomfrey call out. "You are just fine. You did break your ankle though-"

"I broke my ankle?! But-But I can't! I was....I was gonna-" I shut mouth before I gave anything away.

"You were going to what, Bridget?" Hermione asked, suspiciously.

"Uh...do...Snape's essay," I answered right on the spot. "I was really looking forward to finishing that."

"Mmmhm," Hermione pursed her lips. "I could always go get your essay."

"Oh," I nervously laughed, "right."

"Are you two feeling okay, besides that?" Ron asked.

"I'm feeling fine," Harry nodded.

"Yeah, same," I answered. "I just wanna know when I can get out."

"Did we win?" Harry asked.

Everyone went silent. I sighed, "I'll take that as a no."

"Of course, nobody blames you, Harry," Hermione started. "The dementors were supposed to stay off school grounds. Little to say, Dumbledore was furious."

I nodded, "What about his broom?"

"It-uh-kind of got torn up by the Whomping Willow," Ron showed both Harry and I the torn up stick.

"Dang," I widened my eyes, "that thing really tore your broom up, Harry."

"I bet your isn't any better," he told me.

"Well," Hermione tilted her head, "slightly. But you won't be able to use it."

I gave her a confusing look, "What do you mean?"

Neville held up a stick, "When you got hit with the Bludger, your ankle wasn't the only thing that cracked. It kind of got split in two. It wasn't bad before; just the end had broken off, but when you feel, it did too."

"The wind flew it, hard, into the stands. Like where Harry and Draco went that one time," Hermione explained.

"Oh," I nodded, "okay. Well, I need a new one anyways."

"Bridget?" I heard a very familiar voice come from behind Seamus and Dean. The boys moved over, and guess who was standing there.

"Hi, Anthony,"I smiled a fake smile.

"I am so sorry about your ankle," he started to come towards me. "I wish I could've sent the Bludger towards something else but-"

"Wait," I heard George say.

"You're the one who broke her ankle?" Fred asked. I noticed that both boys stood taller and tried to seem intimidating.

I giggled, "Back down." The boys looked to me and nodded. They did as I told, and I looked to Anthony, "I forgive you. I'm sure it was only an accident. And it's all in the game."

"I'm glad you understand," he smiled and came to my bedside.

"Hey, watch it," I heard Harry warn.

I laughed, "Oh, calm down."

"Everyone," I heard Madam Pomfrey call out, "out of my way!" I saw her make her way through all the students towards me. She smiled, "How are you feeling Meadows?"

"Good," I nodded.

"Good. Well, you'll be out of here by tonight. Same goes to you, Potter," she handed me a cup.

I looked inside. There was this weird dark liquid.

"It'll help your bones repair and stabilize themselves," Pomfrey explained.

I nodded and took a swig. I nearly spit it out, it was so bad. I put the cup on the table and started to cough, "That....was....disgusting!"

"Well, what'd you expect?" Madam Pomfrey picked up my ankle. "Creamed Tea?" I sighed as she started to roll around my ankle, "Does this hurt?"

I couldn't feel any pain, "No."

She nodded. She threw my ankle back on bed, "That?"

I shook my head. She nodded once more. She came over and picked up the cup, "Try to stand up," and she turned to Fred and George. "You two make sure she's stable," and with that, she walked off.

I sat up, and sighed. I swung my legs over to the left side of the hospital bed. I noticed that each of the Weasley twins were on either side of me, ready to step in. "Oh boys," I rolled my eyes. "Chill, I've got th-" I tried to stand up, and nearly tumbled.

Luckily, boys caught me, "What were you saying, Bridge?" Fred asked me.

"You got this, right?" George laughed.

"Okay," I laughed. I steadied myself and waved away the boys. They released me slightly and I began to walk around, "See. I'm fine. Now you can let me go."

They left me go completely, and I walked around to Harry's left side, and back over to my right side. I began to laugh. You'd never even known I had a broken ankle just a few hours ago. How remarkable is magic?!
