"what was that?"

dream turned from the couch to watch his sister slam the door behind herself. "what?"

"first you can't keep your eyes off of george, then you disappear to the bathroom, and then you guys stop talking. what happened?" she wasn't angry, she was just frustrated because she knew how ignorant her brother could get.

dream shrugged, sinking further into the sofa. "george just didn't feel like talking?"

he felt the cushion sink beside him, his sister was glaring at him with unblinking eyes, arms crossed in front of herself. "that was the awkwardest car ride i've ever experienced in my entire life. what did you do?"

he shook his head. he still didn't want to talk about this. she stood from the couch, making her way to the stairs. "fine. but if this whole situation comes around to snip you in the butt, don't come crying to me." she stomped up the stairs and he rolled his eyes, pressing his palms into the bruises on his face.

dream replayed the day. maybe george finally processed dream's actions in the bathroom, that was the only reason he figured george would be acting different. he pressed his hands harder into his face. dream was hoping george misinterpreted the gesture, however the fact that george wasn't talking to him isn't a great sign.

he stood up from the couch, and had to drag himself up the stairs, carrying an ice pack from the kitchen. he sighed when he reached the top, pushing open the door to his room and sitting against his bed. he rolled up his sweatpants and pressed his calves into the cold hardwood floor. he rested his head on the bed and positioned the ice pack onto his face. he sighed again.

this is not what he expected to happen. he fished his phone out of his pocket and held it above his face. george was going to be the death of him. after the thought left his brain his screen turned on, to a picture of george that never failed to make him blush. he stared at the picture, yet he had already memorized every distinct part of it. dream spent a lot of time staring at that specific photo.

he opened his phone and clicked into his messages. he knew it was wrong to ignore george, he felt it in his soul, but what would he have said. dream opened his chat with 'better than sapnap' staring at the sad face, he frowned back. he sighed, he typed out 'sorry' but it didn't feel sufficient. dream tried to explain why he was sorry but he wasn't sure exactly what he had done.

he stood up from the floor and paced his room, brainstorming and rewording, trying to help george understand his distress. he set the phone down on his desk and sat on his bed, head in his hands. the noise of a notification lifted his head, he turned to his phone.

you've been typing for an hour now what are you trying to say

dream almost cried. just what he needed right now. he picked up his phone and laid on the floor.

'are you going to sleep now' dream could see his fingers shaking.

'that's what took you an hour to type'

'no' dream bit his lip.

'i was going to sleep but you never finished typing'

'i thought you were already asleep'

'i wasn't'

dream didn't respond for a minute, thinking of a conversation topic.

'my sister is mad at me'

george didn't answer.

'she said that i made the car ride awkward because i didn't talk to you...i'm sorry i didn't know what to say. i was scared you were upset with me and i didn't think i could handle it.'

'handle what'

'you being mad at me :/'

george didn't respond, dream frowned.

'i'm sorry george, goodnight."

dream felt tears prick his eyes, he didn't want to talk about. he didn't want to talk about it, yet he still did. he sighed, looking up at his ceiling as the moonlight seeped in through his blinds. he reached a hand up to apply pressure to the bridge of his nose. the pain was only a side effect of the numbness that sat in the place of his nose.

he stood from the floor to find the ice pack, however the ice already melted. he squeezed it in his hand. he was frustrated, yes. he let go of it, listening to the noise it made when it hit the floor. he laid back on his bed, he wished he had the energy to face the rest of his problems, he just didn't.

he sat in the bed, still wearing his sweaty clothes from earlier. he closed his eyes. his phone vibrated beside him. he opened his eyes.

are you asleep

dream unplugged his phone and brought it to his face.

'not yet'

'is your nose okay'

'it's fine'

george sent a sad face, dream returned the gesture.

'i can't sleep'

dream's breath caught at the picture of a restless george, tossing and turning in his arms.

'why not'

'not sure'

'well you won't get tired if you're on your phone'

'but i don't want to just sit in the dark :('

'it will help you fall asleep faster'

'i don't think it will'

'do you want me to just text you until you fall asleep'

george sent back a happy face.

'if you were a candy bar which one would you be'

'that's a dumb question'

'why is that a dumb question', dream smiled at the screen.

'do you have an answer'

'no, but i asked you'

'well i don't know'

'you'd be a hershey kiss'

'why do you think so dream'

'short and sweet :)'

'i'm rolling my eyes right now, i'm not sure if you can tell or not'

'what candy bar am i georgie'

'you're a pain'

'that is not a candy bar :('

'you'd be a regular hershey bar, kinda basic but you make a lot of people happy'

i can't believe my break is over tomorrow :( i wanted to write so much more than i actually did
