they drank their coffee in silence, thinking about their respective things in the quiet of the room. dream had finished his coffee a while back but still found himself lifting the cup to stare at the bottom of the empty mug. he hadn't wanted to start the conversation that brought him so much trouble, so instead he sat and thought twice about whether bad was the right person to come to about this.

"so what happened?"

dream's eyes slowly found the others. he wanted more time than that. his finger came up to trace the edge of the table, wanting to avoid the words he had been wanting to cry out. he took in a breath about as substantial as the anxiety that boiled in his tired brain. "i think i ruined a friendship with a really close friend of mine."

their eyes connected again but this time dream scanned bad's to search for any sign he knew who was being spoken about.

the brunette set down his cup of coffee, and bit the inside of his cheek. "is that why you came to me? are you talking about sapnap?"

dream almost contemplated telling bad the problem had been with sapnap, but considering how much the blonde was deciding to tell, that probably wasn't the best idea. he rolled a coffee stir between his fingers. "no it's nothing to do with sapnap, i just don't think he would know how to help me." again they sat still for a beat. "to be completely honest with you, i'm not even sure you'll know how to help either."

bad nodded with a welcoming smile and a comfort in his soft voice that contrasted the stressful state the blonde sat in. "well it wouldn't hurt to try."

dream felt a soft smile flicker past his lips, and he dropped the stir, his hand moving to rest in his hair. "i kissed him while he was...well," his eyes lifted once more trying to admire the encouraging smile his friend wore before his opinion of him changed forever. "intoxicated."

he cringed at the word, his eyes immediately diving down to stare at the stir that sat on the table. he could feel his legs press farther into the plush seat of the booth, disapproving of the word as soon as it left his mouth.

he held his eyes shut feeling disgusted with himself. he shouldn't have let it go that far. when a hand rested on his wrist he opened his eyes to the hazel that calmed his anxieties from the first day he started working here.

"dream it's alright, we all make mistakes. tell me what happened." the hand was removed and dream had wished against it.

the blonde was surprised he had gotten this far already. "i wanted to talk with him about it the day after, but it like slipped my mind or something. i haven't had the chance to talk with him about it because i haven't really seen him since that day."

dream's eyes stayed in a fixated position on the stir that lay peacefully on the table, despising its slacken manner.

"i think he might've found out about this kiss, and he maybe thinks i was trying to hide it from him. believe me i wasn't, i wanted to talk with him about it, bad, i really did, but i just forgot."

dream's eyes only moved when he heard bad set down his cup. the brunette pressed a finger to his lips. "dream you know this place has cameras, right?"

dream wasn't sure what exactly it was about the question but it instantly set him off. "why?" quickly his eyes averted to the corners of the ceiling scanning for cameras he had never noticed before. of course they'd have cameras but he hadn't really thought about it. he also wasn't exactly sure what they had to do with the problem at hand.

"every weekend i review the footage to make sure nothing fishy is going on, and ive seen a lot of things, like how you interact with your friends, and i couldn't help but notice how different it felt around a certain person. i had a hunch at first, but i didn't want to say anything. from what you're telling me now, if it isn't sapnap, and if my intuition is correct, youre talking about george."

dream could basically feel the breath fly out of his lungs as soon as the name left his lips. it had been a while since he had heard someone talk about george in front of him.

"i think your hesitation speaks for itself."

dream nearly punched himself in the face. he couldn't help but wonder how both his sister and bad had managed to back him into a situation he couldn't get himself out of. finally he allowed his lungs to take in air, letting out a hefty breath.

bad's voice was victorious this time around, yet he still carried the comfort with his words. "i don't think he would mind if he found out about the kiss though, if anything i can only imagine you guys joking about it. do you maybe think george doesn't like you back?"

dream slouched against the back of the booth, his face almost halfway underneath the table. "it's not about that bad. we're just friends and i might've ruined our friendship because i kissed him when he was drunk." he sat up finally, raking his fingers across his face.

"see but i don't know why you think george would be upset about that?"

dream laid his head down on the table, he could feel bad rest his hand on his elbow and hear the comforting words he spoke but he tuned them out. trying to avoid exactly what he knew had happened. this had nothing to do with the brunette, dream was scared about what he had started to feel for someone he considered a friend. this could only turn out bad for himself and the brunette he appointed onto a pedestal.
