41 : A Story She Doesn't Know

"You can't. I will slowly die."

"Dear, what are you thinking about?" I quickly get myself together and look at mom. I smile at her.

"Nothing, mom."

Mom shows me her smile. She takes the pudding from the refrigerator and puts them on the table.

"One of your favorite." I chuckle hearing that. But, a second later, my face goes straight. I've been thinking about what Merlin said a week ago. Yes, it's been a week and he hasn't come here and I too, haven't decided if I'm supposed to go back or not. 

The thing I have noticed since I went back here is mom acting as if I didn't go anywhere. She acts normal as if she doesn't know I have gone for way too long. How can that be? Did Merlin change anything here?

"Aila, what's wrong?" mom asks me again. Yup, Aila is my real name but let's go by Antania for now.

I shake my head. "Nothing, mom. I think I'm just sleepy. I will go back to my room."

I take one pudding with me and walk upstairs to my room. I slowly close the door and go straight to my study desk. I silently eat the pudding, thinking about nothing.

"Is it not good?"

"Uhuk-uhuk!"

I widen my eyes. Who-? W-wait what?!

"You." I point straight in front. 

"I asked you is the pudding not good?" he repeats.

I shake my head and try to smack myself. But the person in front of me is way too real to be fake. Feels like a long time not meeting him.

"K-karl?"

I look at Karl from down to up. He wears a modern clothes. A black checkered collared shirt with a plain white t-shirt beneath it and jeans. That simple outfit can make him look cooler and much more handsome. I never, in my entire life, have imagined looking at him wearing modern outfit like this. Back to the topic, what is he doing here?

"Oh no, Merlin must have brought you here." I stand up and try calling Merlin but he doesn't show up. An arm suddenly pulls me backward. Karl is hugging me tightly with his arms.

"Karl, you can't be here." I try to let go of myself from him.

"Aila, what's going on?" A knock is heard from outside. Mom is calling me.

"Aila?" Karl look at me with his smirk. I quickly shut his mouth. Mom can't see him here, she will be suspicious.

"Nothing mom, I'm just watching a movie."

"Alright then. I'll make some popcorn and then I'll come again so we can watch together."

I shake my head, but I can't say no. I'm getting a little panic attack now. 

'Merlin, where are you?!' I call Merlin but this particular damn guy is not responding.

Making popcorn won't take long, so mom will be here anytime soon.
