"Just three more weeks and Sophomore year is over!" Ned makes a little dance while we walk out of the cafeteria
"You still going to Houston?" Peter asks Ned while holding my hand
"Oh yessss, my hat is going to be on my head all the time!" Ned cheers and I start laughing "What about you Tannie, what are you going to do on summer break?"
"Ummm, well, yesterday my dad told me that there was an opening for me to go and take two courses at MIT" I mention and Peter's jaw drops holding my hand tighter
"Are you... skipping High... School?" he whispers and his eyes filled with worry
"Really???" Ned questions me
"no, no, no... it's just taking two courses at Summer and then coming back here to start Junior Year" I explain and both let out a sigh of relief
"Nice... imagine New York without Quantum" Ned whispers and Peter turns to him with a hurtful expression
"Dude..." he says
"Oh come on Peter, Spider-Man is lit too!" Ned reassures Peter
We say our goodbyes and then step to the next class. I love that these last weeks teachers are less strict and allow us to study for our finals so now Peter and me are currently studying for Chemistry. We have moved our seats next to each other. Peter holding his book between us and me taking some notes. Minutes into the studying session I feel his stare, I slowly spin to him who quickly averts his eyes to the book.
"What's wrong?" I ask him
"I'm just ... a little... confused at this part of the... of the chapter... Maybe I need to ask Cobbwell, right?" he stutters and I put my hand on the book and push it down, Peter looks at me and I lightly smile at him
"Is about the MIT thing, right?" I say and he slowly nods pursing his lips
"I couldn't exactly explain to you the whole thing. Ned was there and uh, my dad really likes you, so when he told you about helping you it was real... he told me about the opportunity but also he asked me to ask you that if you want, you can take two courses there" I finally explain and he tilts his head in disbelief
A breathy laugh comes out of him "wha... haha... what? at the MIT?"
"Yes... and it'll be from June to the second week of July if I'm not mistaken... is not that bad, we will have at least six weeks of summer" I shrug and Peter leans his back to the chair
"I... I... I just can't believe that your dad wants to help me... I mean! don't get me wrong but I thought he forgot about it" he gulps and I shift in my seat
"Well, just think about it, there are a lot of open courses this summer I believe you'll like some" I smirk at him
"You know what you're gonna take? of course... if you are planning to go...?" he whispers and I look at him. Puppy eyes staring at me
"Yes... but I'm still considering it" I nod and his hand touches my cheek
"I think you shouldn't drop this opportunity, who knows what the next summer will bring" he flashes a kind smile at me. I bit my bottom lip and twist my mouth "What do you have in mind?"
"Nothing..." I shrug and try to start reading the book but he stops me
"You're twisting your mouth and biting your lip... you do it when something is bothering you" he adds and I roll my eyes
"Okay, you expert in corporal language... I don't want to be that kind of girlfriend but ok... I love spending time with you and when we are not together it feels weird and trust me... I'm not developing a codependent behavior I've read a lot about that... just... I see that we will be away for a month and two weeks so... so... I... I feel strange ok?" I finally admit and I drop my head to the school desk feeling how the cold material hits my forehead
