Shortly after Lauren and I made it back home.
"Has Devon even said anything to you lately?" I asked
"No, he hasn't. I'm actually glad he hasn't either, I'm trying to get over him— once a cheater, always a cheater. He was no good for me." She explained
"I agree."
"So how should we end our night?" She asked
"A movie and hot chocolate and popcorn, nothing can beat that." I said while taking off my boots.
"Right." She said
I searched for a movie while she made the hot chocolate. I made the popcorn when she was finished and we started the movie, great way to end the night.
Weeks later:
I've been so busy and locked in with school, and this internship— yes, I got it.
I haven't heard from Chris and I've been definitely tending to stop by there but I've been so busy you guys wouldn't understand.
Trying to juggle between homework, and making sure I'm doing what needs to be done here at this internship, it's hard but I asked for it. I'm not complaining either.
Today is Saturday, and on the weekends I don't go in. Lately on the weekends I've just been washing my clothes, cleaning up or homework. Today I wanna stop by Chris's place to see what's going on.
I put my homework up and grabbed my keys to head to Chris's place. When I got there his car was outside luckily, so I'm not making a blank trip.
I got out and walked up the steps, knocking on the door.
It took him a few minutes but he answered.
He raised his eyebrows, "Hey, India." He said
"Hi, Chris. Can I come in?" I asked
He stepped aside. I walked in and it was quiet, Royalty had to been down for a nap or gone 'cause it's never this quiet.
"Where's Ro?" I asked
"Aw, she wit' her grandma, they having a girls day or something." He shrugged while walking back to his couch.
I stood near it, just so I could see his face.
"So how have you been these last 2 weeks?" I asked
He sighed, "I've been fine.. working, chilling.." he said
"Yeah? So who's been coming to watch Royalty when you're at work?"
"Sienna, my cousin." He said
"And, you weren't going to tell me? You were just gonna keep it at us not talking? That's how we were gonna do it?" I asked with folded arms.
"I meant to tell you, but.. we wasn't talking, so."
"So? What'd you do? Ask her to be Royalty's new babysitter?" I asked
"No, matter of fact she came by with my mom one day and I had to go to work at 5, I was in a rush already and I was just gonna have my mom watch her but since Sienna came with her, she offered instead and ever since then she been watching her for me." He explained
"I thought she was only down here visiting anyway, since when was she here everyday?"
"She's staying until summer." He sighed, growing annoyed.
"I'm sensing an annoyed, irritable vibe coming from you, am I annoying you or something? I'm just trying to see where we're currently standing at." I said
"We standing where we been standing at, India. I'm just tired that's all." He said
"Okay.. can you explain why we haven't talked for two weeks?" I asked
"You got a phone too, India. I don't always have to reach out." He said
"I didn't say you did, the point is you didn't even try— I had to pop up for us to start talking." I said
"Okay and what, you want me to kiss yo ass or some? I'm not good at that."
"That's not what I'm asking of you, I just wanna know why'd it take for me to come over for us to even talk." I said
"I don't know, man. Like I said I been tired, working everyday and paying bills can take a toll on you, India." He said
"And, going to school and coming home doing piles of homework won't? I've been busy but I still found the time, you know how to find time if you want something to work. Do you not want this anymore?" I asked
"Want what?" He said and closed his eyes while his hands rested on his head.
"This relationship, us? It's been two weeks but I'm still trying."
He didn't say anything, he looked as if he was dozing off.
How rude.
Luckily I didn't take my shoes or coat off, so I was able to leave immediately. I'm so sensitive, so you know I wanted to cry but I fought back the tears and kept it moving.
I can't believe him.
What happened? What's with this nonchalant character? There has to be someone else.
