Chapter 59 Sleep Over

The whole team plus Will, Henry, Jack, and his aunt were packed into my house has the whole town had lost power. Everyone had brought blankets, pillows, food, flashlights, space heaters, their phones, and the like. My house had become crowded and loud so I kept my hearing aids out. I was the only one with power so I was the only one that could cook my food, heat my house, take a hot shower. I welcomed everyone, not about to let my friends freeze.

I just hoped that no psychos would strike while the power was down and the roads were too dangerous to travel. That would be all we needed, someone who hunted in the dark when people were at their most vulnerable. Everyone wouldn't be able to go out and look for this guy if that happened in this weather. The winter wind was howling outside making the house creak. I knew this kind of weather, I could survive it.

Spencer came up to me in the kitchen as I cooked. I had thrown everyone else out of the kitchen because they were annoying me and in the way. I didn't like other people taking over my kitchen. It was my space and I would share it but when other people tried to take over I got pissy. "How's it going?" Spencer signed.

"Oh, just trying to cook for ten people not including myself," I replied going over and pushing Rossi out of the kitchen for the 100th time that night. "Get out, I know how to cook and checking on me every five minutes isn't going to speed up the cooking or change my answer to if I'm done or need help."

"How do you manage to cook so many dishes at once?" Spencer asked pulling some vegetables out of the frying pan.

"Don't you know women are better at multi-tasking than men?" I teased. Even though I couldn't hear him I knew he was laughing. "Set the table will you hun?" I asked kissing him on the cheek. I started to put everything on dishes and carry it to the table as Spencer grabbed plates, silverware, and glasses. It didn't take long for us to set the table between the two of us. For some reason, I didn't mind Spencer helping me in the kitchen, everyone else I threw out. I just enjoyed being around him, I relaxed when I was around him.

When we finished our task of setting the table I called everyone in to eat. Everyone was crammed into the kitchen and dining room. I only had a small table so people were at the counter, at the coffee table, but we were all eating together and the kids were eating on a blanket in the living room watching Disney movies in the living room. They were both middle schoolers now, but Henry was now a big brother, so for the little guy, we put in the Disney stuff. Right now though they were watching Ice Age.

When it got late we all settled down in our places. I had done my best to give everyone a place, Aaron was on the sofa in my library, Rossi was on the window seat in the kitchen, the kids were in the living room, JJ and Will were in the guest room and Derek and Garcia were on a pull-out couch in the living with the kids. They had kids duty, the kids had pillows and sleeping bags with an air mattress; they were camped out on the floor next to the fireplace. Spencer and I were in my room.

"So what's it like having a house full of people?" Spencer asked me as I curled up to him.

"As long as I keep my hearing aids out not too bad. I don't like all the noise; I also don't like having so many people in my house, at least not long term. But till the power is back up everyone is here. I'm going to have to get more food," I replied. Everyone had been in my house for a week, food was running out. Power was working three counties away, I would have to drive. I hoped soon the weather would clear and the power would be back on.
