Spencer's POV

I wanted to cheer Lea up, that fight with her brother had her down. We had today off, so I just had to come up with what to do for her. I had spent the night last night, trying to comfort her but she had a bad habit of withdrawing into herself. I know she tried to be open with me, she just found it hard sometimes.

I was fixing her breakfast, I wanted to take her to the animal sanctuary where she had left her ape friends and tiger. I hoped that they could cheer her up, I knew I could go into the pen with Luca and Charlie, but not Ben the tiger. When she came into the kitchen I could tell she had a headache and felt weak from crying last night. I hoped breakfast and a hot shower would help.

I brought her some water and pain pills which she took muttering a thank you. She sat down at her kitchen bar and I handed her a plate and some coffee before joining her. I knew she couldn't hear me right now, she liked the silence and with me, she didn't have to explain or have to hear to understand what was going on. I think she liked that.

I liked that she would let me ramble, she never told me I was being annoying. Once finished with breakfast I tapped her shoulder and I signed to her, "I have a surprise for you, go get cleaned up. Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting dirty." She looked at me slightly confused but nodded. That was another thing I liked about her if she trusted you, she didn't ask questions when you made a request of her.

I cleaned up the kitchen and got myself ready. When she came back out she had her hair in a braid, was wearing jeans, her FBI hoodie, and some tennis shoes. I hard a time dressing that casual, she didn't care what people thought of her. She was always telling me it was what was inside that mattered.

I grabbed our packed lunch, "Mind if I drive your car?" I asked. She shook her head and tossed me the keys and grabbed her purse. She followed me out and we were off. It was still a long drive and for the most part it was silent, I knew she was lost in her head. "Don't worry about what Hotch said. I know that you love me," I said to her trying to help.

"Sometimes I just wish I could skip the family drama," she said looking up at me. "My job is to understand people and I just can't understand that part about my brothers. Why do people have to be such assholes sometimes?" I laughed at her question.

"People suck," I replied.

"Not all of them," she replied leaning her head on my shoulder. I smiled as I continued to drive. After about another hour I pulled into the sanctuary,  and her face just lit up. "Thank you, Spencer!" She went on in and straight to the pen with a tiger in it. She wrestled with the tiger and he played with her, being careful not to hurt her. I laughed as I watched this 800lb cat push her to the ground rub his face against her.

She laughed and rubbed his ears. At some point, she climbed on his back and he ran around his pen.

When the cat curled up under a tree she left him to sleep. We then went to see the two primates she had rescued.

Lea's POV

Charlie my sweet orangutan and Luca, the sweet and gentle giant. I went into their enclosure and was immediately pulled into a hug by both of them. "Hey guys," I said. This time Spencer joined me in the enclosure. We spent two hours playing hide and seek. Those two were so sweet. Today was great.

Spencer left for a moment and came back with a small cooler. "You hungry?" he asked.

"Starving," I replied.

"Can we eat with them or do we need to go elsewhere?" he asked.

"We can eat with them, they think I'm the alpha female," I said. I had raised them for six months, they thought of me as their mother. I loved them like they were my kids. We enjoyed a lunch of fruit and water and carrot sticks. My fur babies asking for some every now and then. I laughed at them as they signed for food. "You two are such mooches," I said giving them each a carrot.

We left just before dark, "Thanks for today Spencer, it was great." I couldn't ask for a better boyfriend.

"You're welcome," he replied.
