Chapter 21 Stir Crazy

It had been three weeks and the team was no closer to catching this guy in LA. I rarely heard from them they were so busy. Garcia and I had been working together by her connecting my home computer to hers. From that angle I worked the profile. I would have gone down to join them but Jack's other Aunt, Jessica was out of town. She was on vacation. Currently I was reading all my books for a third time, I had laundry going, dishes in the dishwasher, cookies and brownies in the oven, and the whole house had been cleaned from top to bottom four times already.

My poor dog and gone through several grooming sessions that lasted hours on end, but he put up with me. I was waiting for Garcia or someone to send me something to do. I was going stir crazy. The only time I had something to do was when Jack was here, but right now he was at school. He rarely needed help with his homework and then he could help me clean from dinner. I needed something to do. I had been cleared to fly.

I pulled the goodies out of the oven as the timer dinged. I decided to go for a run. I texted Garcia to let her know to call me on the phone because I would be out of the house. I called my dog Eliot to me and put a leash on him. Shortly before three, I came through my front door soaked in sweat. That had been a good two and a half-hour run. I put my iPod down on the table and then got a drink of cold water.

Ring, ring cut across the silence as I drank. I looked at the cellphone I had placed on the counter. It was Jack. He wanted to know if he could bring a friend home to work on a school project. I told him he could bring his friend over and they could stay for dinner but then we would take him home.

It wasn't long before he and another boy came inside. Jack introduced me to his friend, James. They were working on a diorama together. It was for a book the class had read. They both went to the table and started work as I was working in the kitchen. I started dinner after getting them a shoebox and some art supplies. I was making bacon macaroni and cheese.

Three days later and I still hadn't heard much from the team. I finally called my brother and left him a message. "Aaron, it has been almost four weeks since you left for LA. You promised I could help from home. I am now cleared to fly, so if I have to drop Jack off with Jessica I will. You guys are making me worried. And I will keep calling everyone on the team till someone tells me what the hell is going on. Do I make myself clear? You have 12 hours to get back to me before I blow up your phone, 24 till I get on a plane."

I then moved on to Rossi, Morgan, JJ, Garcia, Prentiss, and Reid, leaving them all the same message. After 12 hours and no word from anyone, I started calling non-stop, trying to pinpoint their location using their phone signal and my computer. They were where the field office was. A few were at a police station. I quickly googled both areas to see if they had been abandoned. But surely if the team had been kidnapped then Garcia here in DC would let me know to get down there to bring our family home.

Both places were still occupied. I called the Sherriff's station in LA and asked to speak to Aaron Hotchner. I finally got through, thank god. "Hotch," my brother said clearing looking through a file.

"Aaron, what the hell?" I asked. Before he could say anything I asked, "Don't you check your cell anymore? I've been trying to get a hold of you guys for hours. I can't even get a hold of Garcia. I'm about a heartbeat from hopping on a plane and coming down there to kick your ass."

"Lea," he barked, calling me by my childhood nickname. I fell silent, something was wrong. "It's the guy that raped you when you were 15. He's back and after you. It is best that you stay where you are, and keep Eliot with you at all times." Now I was trying to find my voice and failing. "Sean is on his way down, he'll stay with you and Jack till we catch this guy, we believe that he is on his way to Quantico. Lea, are you all right?"

After several more moments, I remembered how to breathe and speak. "Yeah, I'll be fine. You should have just told me."

"I know, I'm sorry and just stay in the house," he said hanging up. Now I really was going to go stir crazy. I think I was already there.
