"I won!"

"That's great!" Honeypool purred.

Her brother told her about his practice fight with Birchleg in front of Stonesplash, Hawkstar and Hareflight.

"Hawkstar said he was proud to have me as a warrior," Bumbleflight continued.

"Of course he is, Bumbleflight. You're a credit to GrassClan."

Bumbleflight's eyes glistened, and he shuffled his paws. They had been with their new Clan for a couple of seasons now. They had both grown quickly here, surrounded by cats sharing the same goal of seeing GrassClan thrive. Unfortunately, life in PineClan had really damaged his self-worth.

Would her brother ever be free of his past struggles?

"Do you need help with anything?" Bumbleflight asked with a tilt of his head, ever eager to please.

"Always," Honeypool answered.

The siblings got busy sorting out herbs and clearing up the storage area that

never stayed clean for long.

"Hawkstar is a great leader. Much better than Shadestar. I was terrified of him. He always found fault with everything and never had a kind word to say to the Clan. Hawkstar is nothing like that," Bumbleflight meowed.

Mention of the black tom made Honeypool think of his daughter. She was just

like him and as his daughter, had special privileges that no other cat had. Yet, she had still left PineClan. She had never made an effort to integrate into GrassClan, remaining aloof from the rest of them and she clearly still had ties to PineClan. It made her uneasy to think that there was a cat in the Clan with such divided loyalties.

Which side would Shadowheart choose?
