It had been three weeks since Harper's encounter with Mouse. Two weeks of Intelligence being jam-packed with high profile cases. As the team finally finished the debriefing from the last case, Voight walked into the bullpen, "I have an announcement to make" he said. What could it be this time?

"Lindsay's task force from the FBI is going out of the country to solve a case but Erin wants to stay so she is coming to work with us temporarily" Voight explained. How was this even possible? Didn't she get fired? And then Harper realized it, Voight had pulled some strings. Once again Erin was getting her way.

"I'm going to keep Sky and Halstead partnered up, so Erin will partner up with Burgess" Hank explained before walking back into his office. Harper let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding, in her and Jay were still partners.

Her relieved expression quickly morphed into a confused and sad one. Erin was coming back. Would this put all the progress Jay and Harper had made on the backburner? Harper already thought she knew the answer to that one, of course it would, Jay loved Erin.

Tears pricked at Harper's eyes as she thought about the fact that she would always be Jay's second choice, just like she was Hank's second choice. Jay had literally said Erin was all he thought about for christ's sake, how could she compete with that? Harper quickly walked out of the bullpen and into her car.

Jay didn't know what to make of Voight's statement. A couple of months ago, he would have been thrilled that Erin was coming back to Chicago, I mean he was going to ask her to marry him for fuck's sake. But now, he was closer with Harper, way closer than he could be with anyone. He had told her about the army, about his past, things no one else knew. Things he couldn't trust Erin with.

He didn't even plan on talking with Erin unless it was for the case. As soon as Jay heard him and Harper were still going to be partners he couldn't help but smile. He just hoped Harper knew that Erin coming back didn't change anything. Jay promised himself that he would stay true to the promise he had made with Harper. You will not let Erin ruin this too, he told himself.

As soon as Harper got home, she texted Kelly asking if he wanted to meet her in the bar in an hour. After a few minutes, replied with his confirmation. Harper quickly stepped inside the shower and 45 minutes later she was ready. As she stepped outside of her room, she saw Jay on his phone. "I'm going out tonight" she said nonchalantly. As soon as Jay saw her, his eyes widened, she was wearing a lace camisole paired with a leather jacket and a leather skirt, "Uh... oh okay, how long will you be out?" he asked.

"I don't know," she said truthfully. Jay's jaw unclenched and clenched at the sight of her, Chill out, if she actually knew what you were thinking she would run away he scolded himself. "Okay, text me if you need me to pick you up or something" he said, going to the fridge to get a beer. "Thanks" she said before walking out the door. Who was she going out with? What was going on? Jay asked himself before realizing he would just have to trust her on this one. Erin was coming back and both of them were dealing with it. Just in different ways.

Whenever she got to the bar, Severide was already there, so she took a seat beside him. Harper didn't even know what she was feeling, she felt anger, sadness, and betrayal. Erin hadn't even come back yet and it was already messing her up. She felt like some teenage girl who was jealous of the popular girl. It was embarrassing.

"Hey, what's up?" Kelly asked her looking up at her. "Erin's coming back for a while" Harper said, picking at the label on the beer Severide had ordered for her. "I'm sorry," Kelly said sincerely. Kelly was a nice guy, he was hot, respectful and he put his life on the line everyday to save people. But Harper wanted Jay, they had a connection, he was her best friend and partner, nothing could ever replace him.

After two hours, Harper and Kelly were both shitfaced drunk. "Want to go to my place?" Kelly asked drunkenly. "Yessss" Harper laughed, swaying. Since Severide's home was a few blocks away, they decided to walk there. As soon as they got out of the bar, Kelly pushed her against the building's wall and kissed her sloppily as she giggled. As they walked to his house in between making out, Harper couldn't help but think about Jay, she wished she was doing this with him and then her heart sank.

Jay was home alone, having to deal with his feelings on his own. Erin coming back was hard for her, she couldn't even imagine how Jay was feeling. She was being a bad partner, yet again, she had broken their promise. How was she even worthy of being his partner and friend? Why did she even think she could be a good girlfriend?  Severide slammed her against the wall of his apartment, snapping her out of her thoughts as he kissed her roughly.
