2022, May 15 - Seokjin (Container & Taehyung's Abeoji)

"It makes me think of the old days..." Hoseok seems excited from our first time hanging out together in so long.

My attention stays on Taehyung even as I converse with Hoseok. Taehyung walks over to Namjoon. It looks like they're about to talk. What should I do?

(A/N: Loop #1: Get closer to eavesdrop.)

"One second, Hoseok-ah. I've got to make a phone call..."

"Ah! Okay, go ahead."

I walk over towards Taehyung and Namjoon, pretending to pick up a call. Then, I focus on their conversation.

(A/N: Loop #2: Listen to what Hoseok say.)

"I think I ate my fill of snacks in high school thanks to you, Seokjin hyung. You were just so bad at games!"

"I lost on purpose because I wanted to buy snacks for you..."

"Psh!"

I joke around with Hoseok as we continue the conversation. I feel a bit sorry for him, but I'm more focused on what Taehyung is about to say to Namjoon.

"Huh? What's that? I want some too!" Hoseok stands up when he notices the snacks Taehyung has.

It's a great opportunity. I follow him as he makes his way towards Taehyung and Namjoon. I focus on the two of them so I can hear what they're talking about.

"Ah, I don't want to go home today."

"What, again?"

"Ah, c'mon. Hyung, can I spend the night here?"

Taehyung often mentioned how he didn't want to go home in high school. We thought it was because he enjoyed being with us, but...

"Ah! Can I just live here?"

It's probably because he wants to avoid his abeoji. He really hates going back home.... So why does he do what he does on the 20th? Is there some underlying cause? If there's a reason why Taehyung insists on going home that day, maybe, if I find out what that reason is, I can really stop him.

"Maybe I can save him." I finish organizing my thoughts to focus on their voices again.

"Do whatever you want. You can sleep over." Taehyung brightens visibly at Namjoon's answer.

"Really? I can?"

"Of course."

"Do you want to stay up doing something? We can play a card game, or..."

Hoseok: That's a good idea! Sounds fun.

"I have a work tomorrow, so I can't stay up. Let's play until I have to go to bed."

A phone suddenly vibrates. It's Taehyung's cell phone. Taehyung peers at his phone. His face is already grim.

"Actually, I think I have to go home."

"Huh? Why?" Taehyung doesn't answer Namjoon's question. "... I'm going to get going."

I leave to follow Taehyung... There you are. I left late but thankfully manage to catch up to him. I slowly shadow him, taking care not to be noticed. What was in that text?

He doesn't want to go home. What made Taehyung change his mind? What he's thinking or where he's headed? I don't know anything at all. The only thing I can do is follow him without him noticing me. But... This isn't the way to Taehyung's?

We're going in a completely different direction. I don't stop walking, despite my doubts, while keeping my distance from Taehyung - not too close and not too far.

Kim Eunhye: I thought you said you'd be home late. You were waiting for me here?

"I was about to head in, so I thought I'd wait for you."

"You should've gone ahead. Abeoji probably hasn't had dinner yet."

"I had food delivered to the house for abeoji to eat. Did you eat yet? Here."

"What's this? A hot dog?"

The two start walking home. I follow them, making sure to keep myself well-hidden and a distance away.

"Do you think abeoji will be drinking?"

"Is that even a question?"

They continue walking home wordlessly.

"He's been drinking less these days. Sometimes, he doesn't drink."

"He goes to work every day and doesn't get as angry. I hope things stay like this."

"... It won't last." I can feel how little Taehyung trusts his abeoji in his sigh.

Did he come to get his noona instead of sleeping over at Namjoon's because he's worried she might get hurt? But, he goes to work every day? This bit of information is different from what I confirmed in previous loops. I'd wondered if the cause for Taehyung's accident was some external source, and I went to go observe his abeoji at his workplace before the incident took place.

Taehyung's abeoji was nowhere to be seen then. The only thing I could confirm was that he hadn't showed up to work for a few days.

"I better check it out... *Calls Song Junho* Samcheon, I have a favor to ask."

(A/N: Kim's house.)

"You here, Seokjin-ah?"

"Yes."

"... Here you go. What you asked for. You wanted to go on-site for practical training, right? This is the form you need."

"Thanks, Junho samcheon."

"There's nothing to thank me for. The Assemblyman seemed to be interested, too. He said he's be keeping an eye on things."

"Abeoji said that?"

"Make sure to use this opportunity to take a thorough look around. It'll all be helpful to you later."

"Yep, understood."
