2022, Apr 27 - Jimin (Eommeoni Can't Understand Me)

[Place: Hospital]

I end up in the surgical ward for a little while due to an injury to my left wrist. I walk into my hospital room after treatment to find eommeoni organizing the things she's brought. I wonder if she'll think I've caused a problem again. I nervously walk over to her.

She looks down at the wrist I've just received treatment for. "It doesn't look too bad, thankfully."

It's been a while since I've heard eommeoni sound concerned. It felt unfamiliar yet welcome.

She silently focuses on organizing the items before asking me a question. "Do you know a Kim Seokjin? He said he attended Jeil High."

I'm surprised when eommeoni mentions Seokjin hyung's name, but try to answer as passively as possible because of how angry she sounds. "Yes, but why are you suddenly ask-"

"Did you contact him?"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Eommeoni stops organizing the items, fixing me with a stare to indicate that what she's talking about is important. "Why are you so immature? Do you even think about anyone outside of here?" I don't know how to respond to such a puzzling remark. My injury feels like it's throbbing more. "Park Jimin. If you want to leave, tell me why you're doing this. Tell me instead of embarrassing me by contacting some random person! Is that why you hurt your wrist? To rebel?"

"... No, eommeoni."

I try to explain, but she doesn't try to listen at all. "I'm really tired, too. How many years has it been? How long do I have to suffer because of you?"

Her anger doesn't seem like it's subsided yet, even with that rant. She leaves the hospital room.

Eommeoni's worries are pointed not at me, but herself. I'm just someone that makes life harder for her. So I decide not to talk about anything else. I don't want to make things any more difficult for her than they already are.
