[Place: Hospital]

I was moved to the 5th floor surgical ward about 10 days ago. I was turning a corner, momentarily distracted, when I ran into someone and fell. (A/N: Kinda throwback from that day.)

The surgical ward isn't too different from the psychiatric one. The only differences are that the hallway here is a little longer, and there's a hospital lounge located in the middle of it. But the fact that I'm able to freely move around these spaces is a big joy that I don't have in the psychiatric ward.

It feels even more free at night when there aren't any people around. At night, I walk down that hallway alone and even dance in the lounge when no one is there. But no matter how much I enjoy freedom, my body stops at the same spot every time. The spot where the hallway ends up on the 9th floor psychiatric ward. No matter what reason I'm walking around the surgical ward for, I always stop right in front of that spot.

There's nothing there that stops me, but the invisible boundary is always in the way.

"Time to head back."

The occupants of the surgical ward's beds change often. I can't help but think a student occupied the bed I'm currently in. Why? There was a lone, forgotten workbook in the drawer next to the bed. I'm sure they left it here when they were discharged.

"I worked on these while I was at school."

The workbook doesn't have a name and there are scribbles here and there.

"I'm so sick of this."

"Wanna go to the PC café later?"

"Okay, yeah!"

"I wanna go to a PC café, too." I leaf through each page, reading the scribbled notes, when I see a haphazardly folded paper tucked into one of the pages. "What is this?" Curious, I unfold the paper. "Career... Plan?" It's written in the same handwriting as the notes in the workbook.
