(A/N: Loop #1)

[Place: Kim's house]

After returning from the sea, we went back to our solitary lives. As if we'd made a rule, no one called each other. We just vaguely assumed how the others were doing based on the graffiti we saw on the streets, the bright light of the gas station, and the piano sounds coming from the dilapidated building.

(A/N: The Korean translation of the book is more detailed)

This was when the after image of that night came alive like vision. Taehyung's eyes looked as if they breathe fire, the way their eyes watched me as if they had heard something unbelievable, Namjoon's hand that tried to stop Taehyung, and I, who couldn't suppress and threw a punch at Taehyung.

(A/N: Throwback.)

Failing to find Taehyung who ran out, I returned to the dorm near the beach and no one was there. Only broken glass cup, blood stains which began to dry up, cookie crumbs brought me back to what had happened a few hours ago. There was a photo lying in the midst of this. In the photo, we stood together smiling while we posed with the sea as our background.

(A/N: Back to the English version)

The lodging on the beach was empty when I came after failing to find Taehyung when he ran out that night. There was nothing except for a photo on the floor. In the photo, we were smiling together in the sea in the background. It had only been a few hours earlier, but it seemed like such a long time ago. Had we worked so hard and for so long for no reason? We were destined to fall apart like this?

I passed the gas station without stopping. We'd meet again someday. We'd laugh together someday as we did in the photo. I'd gather enough courage to face myself someday.

At that moment, my phone rang as if sending me a warning. The phone sent reverberations to the photo hung on the rearview mirror. Hoseok's name appeared on the screen.

"Hyung, Jungkook got into an accident that night."

(A/N: Loop #2)

I walked past the front door and saw a couple of shoes. I asked the housekeeper, and she said they were from the scholarship foundation.

I looked in my abeoji's den. I knew what they must be talking about. I knew what the people from the foundation including my abeoji were up to. Funny how I knew their future, which they themselves didn't. The redevelopment plan which they were having such a heated discussion about would start on the 20th, and the demolition of the containers would begin on September 30.

When I went closer to the den, I saw Junho samcheon eavesdropping by the door. I heard a voice from inside that the plan should be implemented faster. He was the president of Youngjin Engineering & Construction. The redevelopment plan was led by the foundation members. The foundation pursued academic progress and equal opportunities, but in reality, their goal was to realize profit using their power and money.

In the process, they kept things out of sight giving illegal favoritism to some. By manipulating the votes, they won the right to a construction job, changed the building plan, and signed a contract under-the-table.

Needless to say, my abeoji was in the middle of it all. Junho samcheon was his right-hand man who made the deals and handled all the details. I called him samcheon, but he was not related. He was my abeoji's junior in college, and I grew up with him because he started working for my abeoji when he jumped into politics. Junho samcheon was my abeoji's aide, but he gained our trust by handling not only my abeoji's work but things around the house as well.

Hearing my dry cough, Junho samcheon stepped away from the door, surprised. To hide his embarrassment, he asked me when I got home. He wasn't ambitious or had a great dream. He just needed money. In one of the time loops, he got into trouble and got arrested because of money. He probably knew everything already of the things he was listening to by the door. He was eavesdropping because they were deciding on something which was important to him.

I saw Hoseok's text when I turned around from Junho samcheon and headed to my room. I closed the text. Hoseok had found out about Jungkook's accident just then.

It wasn't important. I'd tried to prevent the accident from happening, and fretting over when and how the accident took place. But I realized Jungkook's accident had nothing to do with the loop. It was just one of those accidents that could happen to anyone.

When you leave your wound, it heals by itself and things go back to the way they were. You get scars or disability, but that is your problem to deal with. Even if you get killed in an accident, there is nothing one can do about it.
