Naruto/Sasuke/Gaara x Reader: Dragon Princess

Selene, the shadow dragon

A/N: Just a little warning: It gets kinda depressing in this part when the reader makes the test from the dragon. If you can't stand it don't read.

I wake up in the morning and see that Sakura is already awake and gets ready. We say 'Good morning' to each other and I get ready myself. We then go into the living-room where everyone else is. Then we notice that Naruto isn't there and Tazuna asks: "Didn't Naruto came back last night?"
"Seems like he climbed on the tree alone the whole night."
"Maybe he already died out of too much chakra loose."
"Don't say such things Sakura-chan! I think he got tired during the training and just fell asleep."
"Could be."
"I worry about him. The whole night alone outside...that's too dangerous for a child..."
"Ah, don't worry about him. He is still a ninja, even if he doesn't look like one."
"Maybe he is really dead....such an idiot."
"Sasuke-kun, not you too! I'm going to look for him! Shi, are you coming with me?"
"Sure, Princess. Afterwards we can continue our training."
"Thank you, Shi."
"I'm going with you. I still have to train, too."
"Alright, Sasuke-kun. See ya later Sakura-chan!"
"See you too!"

We three then leave towards the trees. It's silent during the walk but I don't mind it. I know they are both not talkative and I learned from the walk to the academy that it wouldn't be good to force a conversation. It just feels way too akward. When we arrive there we see someone going away. It's a boy who looks much like a girl. He seems familiar to me but I don't remember where I could have seen him before. I wish them both good luck for their training and leave with Shi to continue learning the jutsu. We get to our training spot and she shows me again what I have to do to master the jutsu. Then I try it but I fail at first. After my sixth try I finally got it right. I disappeared in an ice lily a few meters in front of Shi and reappear behind her. I jump up and down happily and she congratulates me. I thank her and I do the jutsu a few times more to make sure I really got it and I am able to do it every time. I then suddenly sense that the new dragon is near enough for me to make a contract with. I look at Shi and she nods sensing the same. She tells me she will inform my team and wishes me good luck. I thank her smiling and make my way towards the dragon. After some time of running I come to a stop at a small lake with a waterfall. I can feel that the dragon is here but where...I walk towards the water and notice a hole behind the cascade. I activate my dragon wings jutsu and fly above the water and then behind the waterfall. I get into a very dark cave. So it seems like the dragon is the shadow one. I let my wings disappear and make a small fireball in my hand to see where I am going. Then I go deeper into the cave cautiously. Who knows if there are any traps or surprises awaiting me? Suddenly a voice echoes from the dark walls: "You don't have to be cautious, human. I won't test if you're worth to make a contract with without you knowing it. Now hurry before I fall asleep. And don't apologize. I know that some of the other dragons test the members of your bloodline without them knowing."
"Alright, dragon of shadows."

I then walk faster through the cave and after a few minutes I see the dragon or better said her eyes. Because of her black scales I can't really see her. She looks at me and says: "Hello human. I am Selene, the shadow dragon."
"Hello Selene! I am (y/n) (l/n). It's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine. So, hu...I mean (y/n), are you ready for my test?"
"Of course I am. Otherwise I wouldn't be here and waste your time."
"-chuckles- I'm starting to like you. Back to the topic...you have to face the shadows of your life, your fears, you will maybe fall into a deep depression...are you still sure you want to do my test?"
"Yes, I am. No risk, no fun, right? Besides I won't get the contract if I don't even try it and I'm not giving up that easily."
"Alright but don't say I didn't warn you. Close your eyes and open them when I tell you to."

I nod at her and close my eyes. After some moments she tells me to open my eyes and I do it. I am in a dark room with no windows, doors or any light, just black darkness. I start wondering what is about to happen when I suddenly stand in front of my sister just like the day I lost my family. I see what happened back then again and I can't look away, no matter how hard I try to. I feel like a helpless, weak little girl again, not able to protect anyone. I cry and scream like I did that day. After this massacre I see the kids from my village calling me monster and demon while running away or throwing little rocks at me. The adults look at me disgusted and with hatred in their eyes. All the mean words, the unfair treatment and the loneliness makes me feeling unwanted, like a burden. No one there who helps me, who accepts me for who I am. I have to see my sensei leaving me again without looking back at me. Then I see Kiki and try to run to her but she gets further and further away without looking or smiling at me. I shout her name but she just disappears ignoring me like she never cared for me. The dragons with whom I made a contract appear. I call them but they ignore me just like Kiki. They walk past me like I am air and talk about something along the lines of being away from me is the best thing that ever happened to them. I cry and ask them what I did wrong over and over again until they also disappear. Only Ifri is still here and he says that he is happy that he finally doesn't have to be my guardian anymore, then he disappears. It breaks my heart to hear them say such cruel things. Some moments later I see Ino, Hinata and Sakura and I try to call for them but no sound comes out. They walk away, talking with each other and leaving me alone in the darkness, the loneliness. I grab my head shaking it from right to left several times. This can't be happening! It just can't be....Suddenly Naruto and Sasuke walk past me without noticing me. I try to call for them but all that comes out is a small whimper. Sasuke stops and looks back towards me but then he turns away and says he thought he heard something but there isn't anyone. That's too much for me. I fall to my knees and cry harder than I ever had. I'm surrounded with darkness and no light in sight. After some moments of crying I remember something. I remember how worried Kiki was every time she sent me on a mission and when I went to make a new contract and how relieved she was every time I came back without wounds and alive. How tight she hugged me because she was so happy to see me unhurt after a mission. How her eyes lightened up every time I dropped the formalities and the one time I called her mom. How bright her smiles were whenever she sees me. I also remember my sensei smiling at me and treating me like a normal girl, maybe like I was his little sister, comforting me when he noticed I was sad and needed a shoulder to cry on, being very patient with me during training even though I failed every single time at first. I remember the happy times I had with my dragon friends, playing pranks with Ifri on Mino from time to time, their protective behavior towards me, their worried looks when I came home from trying to find friends, their concern about what will happen to me if Orochimaru attacks me. I remember the conversations with Hinata, Ino and Sakura, how much we laughed together and how often they were there for me when I needed someone to talk to, how they accepted me from the start and became my first human friends. And I remember the time I spent with my team. How we passed the exam from our sensei, how we caught the cat, how I often have to separate Naruto and Sasuke because of their rivalry, how we tried to see Kakashi-sensei without his mask, how often they made me laugh. How concerned they were when I blacked out after the fight against Zabuza, how curious they were about me and my past. But the most important thing for me is that all of them accepted me and were there for me when I needed them. They won't ignore me like this or treat me that way. I refuse to fall into the darkness because they are my light and they won't let me down! And I won't disappoint them by thinking otherwise! I stand back up and say: "Is that all you have? I'm not going to let some shadows trick me like that and destroy the bonds I have! You can show me what you want because I'm not going to believe any of it!"
"Are you sure? The darkness can give you power and ease your pain. Just let yourself fall into it."
"Are you deaf?! I said I won't let my fears and my past rule my whole life! My life has been hard and sometimes depressing but I found people I can trust and I refuse to throw away everything like trash! They are important for me, every single one of them and that's why I will never let anyone else have control of my life!"
"You little...!"

Suddenly there is a bright light and I have to close my eyes. When the light disappears I open my eyes and I am back in the cave. I blink in confusion and try to understand what happened. I then remember that I'm here for a contract and look around searching for Selene. She is nowhere in sight and I sigh. Seems like I failed her test. I turn towards the entrance where I see a woman with long black hair and dark brown to black eyes coming towards me. She sees me and says smiling: "I see you passed my test. Congratulations (y/n)!"
"I-I passed?!"
"You see, most people with a dark past and big fears would go into the darkness and let themselves be controlled by the shadows. I know how tempting it is but it's not good to do it because you loose yourself and everything that makes you happy. The shadows control your life and turn you into a monster if you let them and it's really hard, nearly impossible, to get out of their grasp again. I'm sorry that I put you through everything but I only make a contract with someone who's mentally strong and believes more in the good things in their lives than in the bad ones. Because of my test I am called an evil and dark dragon but I have already seen one of my contracts who fell into the darkness and became a cruel, sadistic monster and I don't want to see it ever again. I'm not mean in any way or cruel or evil just cautious because I liked that human and seeing her drastically change made me sad and I fell into the darkness too until my next contract pulled me out of it with the help of the light dragon. I wish for no one to make this experience and that's why I have such a test. But I always erase their memories when they failed because I didn't want them to be depressed and sick of life. If you want to I could erase your memories too..."
"No thanks. It showed me that I will never be alone because I have good friends, a family who loved me and a new family who loves me as well and would do everything to protect me. It was hard but I am glad about that experience and want to remember it when I ever feel lonely again."
"Such wise words from such a young girl...Oh right, before I forget it. -takes out scroll- Here is my scroll. It would be my honor to make a contract with you, young Princess."
"-hugs her tightly- Thank you, Selene!"
"-surprised at first- -hugs back with a smile- You're welcome. -lets go of me- Well, then hurry up a bit because it will get dark soon and I don't want you to walk back in the dark."
"Alright."

I take the scroll from her and grab a kunai to cut in my palm. Then I concentrate my chakra on my wounded hand and put it on the scroll where the dragon eye appears afterwards. I then take my hand away, close the scroll and give it back to Selene. She takes it and lets it disappear in her realm. I then ask her: "Why were you at the entrance of the cave?"
"Well, someone else was entering the cave while you made the test. He tried to chain me but I defeated him before he was able to do it. He fled unfortunately. Do you know who he was?"
"-serious- Yes, I guess I know who send him. A guy called Orochimaru seems to want the power of the dragons. I killed one of his minors when I went to Yvern to make a contract with him. He has a contract with Mamba and is a S-rank criminal who likes to experiment on humans, even little children."
"A dangerous man...most likely he will be after you then to get the dragons you made a contract with."
"That's what we think too. Btw when you see my team tell them nothing about it. Only a few people know about it and I don't want to put them in danger."
"Sure, Princess. Now I think it will be better when I accompany you to wherever you are going to."
"-smiles brightly- I would like that very much Selene."

With that said we make our way towards Tazuna's house and I tell her everything important for now. It's dark when we finally arrive and I nearly fall to the ground out of tiredness. Selene catches me before I hit the ground and puts my left arm around her shoulders to steady me. We go inside and into the living-room where everyone else already eats dinner. They look towards us when we enter and Shi jumps up from her seat and quickly walks towards me while glaring at Selene. She asks me if I am alright and I say that I'm fine just tired and hungry, that's all. She then is about to start scolding me for not eating before I left the house but Selene stops her saying that I should eat and immediately go to bed before I maybe black out. Shi pales by the thought of it and leads me to a seat. Selene says bye to me and that she will be in her realm when I need her. I nod at her and she disappears. During dinner no one dares to ask me about the dragon because of the cold glare Shi throws at anyone who tries to. After eating she helps me to stand up and just when I wish everyone a good night she takes me to the room I share with Sakura and I change into my sleepwear before getting in the futon. Shi tells me she will be in her realm and wishes me a good night. I nod at her and wish her a good night too. She disappears and I immediately fall asleep when I close my eyes.
