The music is so loud that I can barely hear myself think. Alex is meeting me out for drinks tonight and I've been trying to find him for the past ten minutes. It's very difficult to see anything in this dimly lit setting.

I decide to walk back to the entrance to check if he just walked in. The reception isn't great in here either, so that always helps...

As I'm walking, I check my phone to see if I have any service, whatsoever. When I glance down, I feel myself bump into someone.

"Oh my gosh," I gasp, my jaw dropping. "I am so sorry, I wasn't looking!" I immediately apologize to the strange man.

"It's alright," He says. "Wait—" He furrows his eyebrows together and looks at me closer. "(Y/N)?"

"Yes..." I look at him again. How does he know who I am? After thinking for a few moments, it comes to me. "Oh, Matt! I haven't seen you in forever, I didn't even recognize you!" I pull him in for a hug.

Matt and I used to work together before I quit my job. We spent almost every day together complaining about our terrible boss.

"You look different too!" He says. "A good type of different, though."

"Thank you!" I say. "How has work been without me?" I ask him.

Our conversation lasts longer than I expected because right in the middle of one of my stories, Alex shows up.

"Matt, this is Alex." I introduce them to each other. "He's my boyfriend."

I see Alex firmly shake Matt's hand, giving him a glare.

We strike up a different conversation since Alex is here, and I can tell that he isn't having a great time at all. Matt is a very flirty person, and I think Alex is starting to get upset at how he is acting.

"(Y/N), you're so funny!" Matt yells, touching my thigh while bending over in a fit of laughter.

"Don't touch her." Alex gets in between us and looks down on Matt.

"Hey man, I didn't mean it in that way." Matt lifts his hands up in defense.

"Yes, I think you did." Alex takes a step closer. "I've been watching you this entire night and I would say that you've been crossing the line."

A few other words are exchanged before I quickly apologize to Matt and pull Alex outside.

"What's going on?" I question.

"What do you mean?" He steps closer to me, closing the gap in between us. "He was all over you, couldn't you tell?"

"He wasn't all over me!" I say.

"Yes, he was! And I'm sorry if I can't let some guy be like that to you. I'm your boyfriend! Not him!"

A sudden lightbulb goes on in my head. "Wait a second..." I smirk. "Are you jealous?"

Alex hates when I figure out he's jealous. I think he finds it embarrassing or something, so whenever it happens I love to tease him about it.

"No, I-I wasn't j-jealous, I—"

I interrupt his stuttering to place my lips on his. He kisses me back quickly, and I can tell he is relieved he doesn't have to explain himself. I love when he gets like that.

"I love when you get jealous." I smile into the kiss.

"I wasn't jealous." He says against my lips.

"Mhm." I wrap my arms around his torso.

"I wasn't!" He argues, squeezing me into a hug.

I just laugh as we walk to his car, hand in hand. He opens the car door for me and I thank him, and he closes it before running around to the other side.

As I sit in the car with him, I take time to think about how lucky I am to have him in my life.

"I love you, Alex." I squeeze his hand in mine.

He smiles, looking over at me. "I love you, too."
