"You nervous, babe?" I adjust Connor's tie and make it tighter around his neck.

"Oh, you know, just a little bit. It's only draft day." He jokes sarcastically, but I still hear the nerves in his voice as he looks down at me.

"Whatever happens, I just want to let you know that I love you. No matter what team chooses you, you're still a fantastic hockey player that cannot be replaced." I tell him and he places a lingering kiss on my forehead.

"I love you, too." He takes my hand into his, leading me out to our seats.

"Are you disappointed?" I ask Connor after he's finished with the press and his photo-shoot in his Oilers jersey.

"No... I mean, I knew they we're going to choose me. Of course, there was a chance that I could be chosen second, but I guessed this would happen." He says.

"It's alright. I'll be here with you through it all." I assure him and place my head on his chest. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me closer.

"Good. Well, should we look for apartments since our new home is in Edmonton?" He suggests and I nod my head.

A few days later, we fly out to Edmonton to look for an apartment. After settling into our hotel, we meet up with the realtor to walk through a brand new apartment.

"This place is huge." I say with my eyes wide as we walk through the hallway.

We head upstairs to look at the bedrooms.

"Wow." Connor comments and we stare in awe at the huge windows with a beautiful skyline view.

"I'll let you two discuss it over in private, so just meet me downstairs when you have decided." The realtor says and leaves us in silence.

I look out the window, admiring the view. I feel two arms wrap around my waist from behind me, and Connor placing his head onto my shoulder.

"What do you think, babe?" He asks me.

"It's perfect." I tell him and he kisses my cheek. His hands grab my waist and turn me around, facing him.

"I can't find anything wrong with it, Connor." I tell him and he stares into my eyes.

"Me neither. I mean, this place is so big, we could have kids here." He tells me and I blink a few times.

"Woah, there. You're not getting any kids out of me unless you put a ring on my finger." I sass him, "One step at a time, McDavid." I caution him.

"Then why not take another right now?" He questions and I become confused. "I was going to wait until tonight, but I just can't stand you being just my girlfriend for a second longer." He tells me before reaching into his pocket.

He kneels down in front of me, presenting a huge, diamond ring to me. Here we are, in an empty apartment, which isn't even ours, and he's proposing to me.

"(Y/N), I've had this ring for about a month now. The only reason that I've postponed this moment is because of my natural uncertainty about everything. What you told me today made me realize that you would, in fact, always be there for me. You're a beautiful, amazing girl who deserves much better than me. I can only hope and pray that you will take a chance on me as your lifetime partner, and that we can make a beautiful life together. Please, (Y/N). Marry me?" He asks and I nod my head, tears falling quickly down my face.

He stands up and slides the ring on my finger. I wrap my arms around his neck and he hugs me back, picking me up off the ground.

I kiss him with all of me, so happy to eventually become Mrs. Connor McDavid.

"Does this mean that we're getting the apartment?" I ask him and he laughs. My future has just been planned out for me, in just minutes.
