"I have a surprise for you today." Patrick sleepily mumbles in my ear as we lay in bed.
The sun is shining brightly through the windows, which has slowly awoken us from our deep slumber. I become aware of his arms snaked around my waist from behind. He could make me feel so safe and comfortable by just simply doing that. It's one of my favorite things about him... About our relationship.
"Well can this surprise wait another twenty minutes?" I ask with my eyes still closed shut from the bright light.
He pulls me closer into him while he places a kiss on my cheek. "I guess it can wait." He complies.
I internally jump for joy at the agreement, meaning I can sleep for awhile longer. Don't get me wrong, I love spending the day with Patrick, but I really love my sleep too. I guess he wanted to sleep a little longer as well, because a few moments later I hear soft snores escape from his lips. I smile to myself before I get the idea to surprise him with something too.
I carefully untangle myself from his arms and I sneak down the stairs and into the kitchen. From there, I decide to make his favorite breakfast foods to surprise him with breakfast in bed.
Once everything is done, I put his plate on the tray and walk up the stairs. I gently wake him, stating that it's been twenty minutes. I set the tray in front of him and he stares at me with a smile on his face.
"I'm the one supposed to be surprising you today!" He says.
"Sorry, I didn't know that there were rules for today. I just wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a nice breakfast." I smile widely, almost sarcastically, at him.
He laughs before pulling me down to his face. He places his lips onto mine while thanking me again.
"Get dressed and meet me downstairs in fifteen minutes." He kisses me before disappearing out of the room.
I put my hair into a pony tail and brush my teeth. When I'm done, I meet Patrick downstairs just like he said to.
"You might need this." He smiles while handing me my jacket.
I carefully take the jacket from him, "Okay, now I'm nervous."
"Don't be." He laughs and takes my hand into his, leading me to the car.
We drive for about ten minutes before pulling up in front of an ice rink. I groan and look over at Patrick, "Pat, you know I can't skate!"
"That's why I'm going to teach you!" He says, making me roll my eyes.
He parks the car and opens the door for me while I practically drag my feet through the front door. He laces my skates for me and leads me onto the ice.
I place my first foot on the ice, and everything seems to be going okay, but once I put the other foot on the ice I immediately fall flat on my butt.
"Patrick! I'm going to kill you!"
He laughs with the smile I love. "No you won't. You love me."
"Unfortunately, I do." He helps me up on my feet and gently grabs my waist. We skate a few laps and I finally get used to the feeling of skates on my feet.
"Can I let you go now?" He asks.
"No! Not after you let me fall like that."
"(Y/N), you'll never learn if you don't skate on your own." He whines.
I start to think about the possibilities if he let go of me. I could fall again, or I could maybe actually skate correctly. We have been at this for about an hour. How bad could it be, right? Okay, I can do this.
I turn my head slightly to tell Patrick to let go of me, but once my eyes search for him, I find him about twenty feet behind me. I hadn't noticed that he let go!
"Patrick, what the heck?" I scream as I come close to the glass. I hold out my arms, preparing myself to fall as I try to turn, while squinting my eyes in the process.
I don't feel myself fall, so I open my eyes again to see Patrick skating towards me. "You didn't fall! See, I knew you could do it, babe." He pecks my lips as I smile.
It was a miracle that I didn't fall. Honestly.
"Thanks for teaching me." I wrap my arms around him. "I never thought I'd be able to skate."
"You're welcome. I'm so proud of you, (Y/N)." He pulls back to place his lips onto mine.
