(Summary)

In 1978 Danielle's parents died in a car crash, she was an only child. She had no siblings and no other legal guardian, she was all alone. She was six years old at that time when her parents passed, her birthday being only a month away. Two weeks later after the tragedy she was sent to Hawkins, Indiana. She had an uncle named Benny Hammond who lived with his daughter Jessica Hammond who was twelve when her father took Danielle in with open arms.

During the first three months, both of the girls hated each other. But something changed to the point where they both became inseparable and they started addressing each other as sisters. Soon Danielle was calling her uncle "dad". But all this information is based on rumors, no one knows if the girl is Benny's niece but they will believe anything that fits the story.

Benny, Jessica, and Danielle live on Old Cherry Road while their father Benny owns Benny's Burgers down Randolph Road.

Everything was silent. At least that's what Benny thought. He wasn't aware of the word that spread around town about Danielle. They called her "The Menace of Hawkins" and there's a reason Benny never heard of it. Both his daughters made sure the word didn't reach him. And he didn't hear a single thing until 1983, 2 days before he died.

Both Jessica and Danielle were in California on Vacation, they should have been in school but it was Jessica's early birthday gift to her sister whose birthday was on November 7th. Everything was going great until Jessica got the call in the middle of the night from Jim Hopper giving her the news that her father was dead.

Without hesitation and a suffocating silence, they made their way back to Hawkins. Jessica already passed the 'Welcome to Hawkins' sign which surprisingly wasn't the hard part. The hard part was making eye contact with her sister, she hesitated to look at the girl beside her who was in the passenger seat.

When she finally got the courage, she looked and her heart dropped. Not a hint of emotion behind her sister's eyes, her face exhausted from the lack of sleep but the look on her face showed no hint of humanity. The same look she has had for the last five years.

"Dani..."

Dani looks over at her sister with those lifeless grey eyes. Despite the girl having beautiful blue eyes they never shined they looked dull, and empty, making them look gray. The younger girl chuckled and then looked out the window seeing half the town holding flashlights, she could hear the the echoes of people yelling a name. "Well...this is some birthday gift. Very poetic"

"Don't say that"

"What? I haven't said anything that isn't true. Like the fact that my birthday is now the day your father died"

Jessica snaps her head looking at her sister with a glare "Our father" she corrects before looking back at the road ahead of her "You aren't going to start this bullshit again. Especially today, understand?"

Danielle nods but that wasn't good enough for Jessica "Dani, do you understand?" Her voice turned into a dark whisper one that meant she was serious. Despite it being a whisper, Dani heard her, letting out a sigh.

"Yes, Jess, I understand."

Liar.

and it was a lie. She didn't understand. She didn't want to understand. All she knew was that her father figure was dead and that the day before he died. Will Byers went missing.
